I allready order my new W204 but has AUDIO20. I would like to change it with the new COMAND. Can i do this and where can i buy it??

When should it be built? You could add it as a factory option a month before the build day or so. Should be the least expensive option too.

The dealer should be able to sell it if you have to go for the retrofit option.

Already builted i think because i am going to get the car in about twenty days time.

Will be possible for me to order the COMAND from the dealer or from any and fit it in my W204 webshop?

You need to check with the dealer in your country what is possible and what is not. Afterall you're dealing with a brand new model and OEM retrofit parts are going to be scarce in the beginning.

It's no problem. It can be done. But maybe you need a new cluster and new airbag. So that can be a problem for price.

I think you made a big mistake ordering a new 204 without comand. It's always a lot cheaper to have it in the car when it arrives. I don't know what country you live in, but in the US, you are not going to find ANY dealer that will retrofit it for you. If you happen to be so lucky, the price will stop you in your tracks.

If I were you I would immediately let my sales guy know that I want to get a car with comand/Nav system. You have nothing to loose at this point but a little time Maybe. If they refuse and you are a month away from delivery, I'd threaten to pull the plug on the deal which you can do at any time before delivery and find a car, or another benz dealer without loosing your deposit.

W204 is too new of a brand to do such a MOD unless you just feel the need to and from where you are standing you still have time to change. even of it means waiting for another car. Face it. you are going to spend a good bit more than whatever they are charging to mod it and will have NO audio support from the dealer throughout the entire warranty period.

Nicos13, you are being given good advice. Plainly, you don't know enough about what you are getting into trying to modify the car.

Do what has been suggested; cancel your order on the car to be delivered, and order one that already has the COMAND installed, even if you have to wait additional time. You will be much happier in the end.

Ok let's say that i am not going to buy the COMAND and fit it because of the price.

Can I just change the 4.5" screen with 7" like the one that the COMAND has so that i can watch movies on the car from my ipod?

Would help if you would indicate where you come from (USA, Europe, elsewhere?).

Within Europe it is typical that one cannot cancel a factory order without significant penalty. If you are from Europe, I can understand the interest for Comand retrofit. If you are from the US, I guess you just want to be among the first.

For us the options for a W204 are:
- 510/523 Audio 20 with or without CD/DVD cnanger,
- 511/525 Audio 50 APS,
- 512/527 Comand APS.

All appear in the W204 MB accessories brochure. An experienced dealer in this case should be able to perform the retrofit task, this is for Europe at least. The price is still a completely different issue.

From parts list it looks like the pigeon hole stuff would need to be replaced and the control unit. My understanding was that the instrument panel was different only depending on existence of the knee bags.

Audio 50 comes with a smaller display than Comand.

First of all i am from EUROPE.

My option for audio is code 510 which means Audio 20 with CD changer.

1.Can i watch movies from my ipod to this?
2.Can i replace only the 4.5" screen with 7" like the one that the COMAND has?
3.If the answer is NO in questions 1 and 2 what can i do to watch video and/or tv?

Not sure if any of the above is possible, at least WIS did not show retrofit instructions for the bigger screen separately.

My suggestion would be to perform a full Comand retrofit.
