i am planning to do the same as 'thuged_out' mentioned. did you have to cut any wires? or is the factory wiring long enough?

If you have pictures it would be great

i'm actually thinking about moving it all the way down to where the cigarette lighter/adapter is... do you think it is long enough for that?

or would I have to cut and extend the cables? Do you see any potential problems with cutting and extending it?

............I try to answer if i am pretty certain of the answer. This one, I am not sure of. I do not remember having any trouble with the length of the cable, but I was not trying to move it as far down as you are planning. There are no fiberoptic cables involved, so as a general matter I do not think that cutting the cable and making it longer should prevent the HVAC from working. I personally will noot do it because of warranty implications.

Yeah, I'm always concerned about the warranty issues too. Maybe I can find a way to run it all the way down there without damaging or cutting anything... i will post my experience when that time actually comes around.

Thanks for your help Ted.

I was planning to move the stereo (Alpine 7995) up to the current location of the HVAC. Then, with a custom made console, install a fixed Monitor (Alpine TME-M760) where the stereo is now which pretty much occupies both slots, then install the concealed V1 display to the bottom/left of the monitor, and raise the cigarette lighter to be flush with the rest of the console.

I'm also thinking about yanking out the Cup holder, but I haven't decided what exactly to put there. Maybe a fixed cup holder, or just have a panel there for extra buttons (to remotely start a camera or PS2, not sure yet... still in the 'design' stages now)

I was going to do a similar setup, with Kenwood fix screen and the kenwood z-910 unit...

But I wanted more functions, so I went with the Kenwood KVT- 911 model.

3 more days till I get my car back....
