AWS -BT - Microphone Quality
The quality of the incoming voice sounds great through the comand/speakers.
It seams that our 2003 E class dont have a MHI (didnt come out until 2005). We have the CP211 Module (which is part of the teleaid).
So if my sound quality from the microphone is very poor, is this something that is fixed with a software update to the CP211?
Does anyone else have an issue with microphone quality? My comand has the latest s/w btw.
Thanks
JM
First, poor connections between the puck and the cradle have caused this problem (in your case, it may be the "tail" connections). One or two contributors with V60 systems have even upgraded their older v60 cradle to the newer v60s cradle used in '04 (it is slightly larger) - but it should not be necessary. It may not even be applicable to your installation, since you have the puck-with -tail.
A second possibility is the microphones. However, if they worked before, they should be working fine after installing Bluetooth. No changes are necessary.
A third cause has been firmware incompatibility between your phone and the MB system. There are many posts about this already. For one, see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ml#post2222126 for just one (it's long, but it covers many voice quality issues). Without knowing more about your system, this would be my guess as to the cause.
A fourth cause is poor signal strength, an antenna issue that can also result in many dropped calls and dead spots as well as degraded voice quality at the fringes of reception. Because you have clear reception and poor transmission, it is likely not an antenna issue.
Your CP211 (CP stands for Communications Platform) does combine the tele-aid function and the cellular handsfree function in one set of electronics. In most other cars they are separate. I am not aware of any software updates necessary to use the system with Bluetooth.

Im using a Blackberry 8703e (sprint), I will try my wifes Treo and my daughters Razr. To see if the problem changes. I never had handsfree (or used teleaid before) so i dont know if the microphones worked before.
(i just updated the BB f/w to 4.1.0.384 / 2.2.0.182)
no change in voice quality John
