Bluetooth - Microphone quality
Bluetooth - Microphone quality
I recently installed my puck with tail in my 2003 E320. Works great, however the party that im speaking to says that it sound like my voice sounds "muffled".
The quality of the incoming voice sounds great through the comand/speakers.
Does anyone else have an issue with microphone quality? My comand has the latest s/w btw.
Thanks
JM

I'm using the puck with tail very successfully. I have asked people to tell me how I sound on the other end, and I've been told that it does not sound like I'm on any hands-free system. The microphone is in the rear view mirror, and I have a tendency to try to point my voice in that direction, which might be the reason...
I spent the last couple hours reading all Puck with tail posts.
It seams that our 2003 E class dont have a MHI (didnt come out until 2005). We have the CP211 Module (which is part of the teleaid).
So if my sound quality from the microphone is very poor, is this something that is fixed with a software update to the CP211?
Anyone?
Thanks
John

Im using a Sprint Blackberry 8703e (based on some comments, i am updating my BB f/w to latest now)
I will also try a Treo and Razr tonight to see if it sounds better...
My BB works, just the microphone quality sucks...

For MY03 and 04 the Microphone Voice Control Module (MIC CM - A35/1) needs to be replaced with part #BQ6820929 to resolve echoing, high-pitched noises, and general distortion. You can reference DTB P-B-82.70/338b.

Thanks that sound interesting, is Q6820929 part of the rear view mirror where the microphones are? or is that a separate thing in the trunk area?
EDIT - I dont have a Voice Control Module, where i can issue voice commands to change the radio etc. My 2003 is stock..no V60 installed phone. I just installed the puck with tail, and did the version coding. Thats it.

Oh, so to just clarify, i need to replace my (A2118204226 or A2118202485) with the updated one?
And i should mention the DTB P-B-82.70/338b ?
Is it just a swap out? or is there version coding needed?
Thanks very much for your input..

Simple process, out with old in with the new - no coding.
Does anyone have the ability to pull and or print this TB? So I can see if this is a DIY thing? I asked my MB dealer, however they have not returned with a answer yet.

Konigsticker,
Confused on your earlier post - if a M/B did NOT come with the phone package, does it still have a mic? So all that's needed is the wiring bit in the center console, the bluetooth puck, and a reflash?
Thanks,
Smash

Yes, the microphones at the base of the interior rear view mirror are utilized for MBUSA TeleAid and the phone. In this case, the 211 discussed has been prewired from the factory for phone install.
Ah, makes sense with the emergency recovery system. I'm thinking of doing the phone add-in, seems very simple. Thanks for the info, now I need to search for those 2 part numbers again...

The part # upgrades to A211 820 6185
I have one ordered and will change it myself.

If I understood you correctly, you are out of warranty less than 30 days. A quick phone call to MBUSA CAC 800-367-6372 may override the dealer’s decision and approve a goodwill repair. Even though the part installs easily, keep in mind if you receive a goodwill repair and a problem should present itself during repair or after it will be resolved in the process. Furthermore, your dealer’s service/repair policy (i.e.: 90 days, 1 year, etc.) will extend the warranty period at no cost.
I recently had the bluetooth puck installed. At first, the sound coming in was fine, but the outgoing voice was reported to sound like I was in a tube or under water. Then, the microphones went out completely although I could still hear incoming voices. "Hello, can you hear me now...??" No dice. Dealer is fixing now by updating the mic modules, along with fixing my SBC.
