I love Solobarics! Same question I have is if the box comes like that or did you have it made? Also what are the box dimensions?

This 12 is a solo X so its different than other kickers...they are about $1,200 a sub, it take HUGE power and requires a very special box. it was custom made. it has alot more to it from behind, but its bolted in.
here are the specs from online
Model : S12X1
Size (IN., CM) : 12, 30.5
Impedance (OHMS) : 1 DVC
Max Rec Amplifier Power (WATTS PEAK) : 5000
Max Rec Amplifier Power (WATTS RMS) : 2500
Sensitivity (dB 1W/1M) : 87.7
Frequency Response (HZ) : 20-100
Mounting Depth (IN., CM) : 8-9/16, 21.7
Mounting Cutout, Square (IN., CM) : 11-1/4, 28.6
Recommended Box Volumes: The SoloX is engineered for highly specialized installations/applications.

very loud if you turn it up. the clarity of this sub is unreal. I have had handfuls of different systems. this one sounds unreal for what it is. on the other hand this car has a sealed trunk (seats do not fold down) thats why you need a little more bass back there.

That's pretty sick, back in the day (I'm almost 34) when I was in high school and college I had like 4 12 inch solobarics, tons of amps, stiffening capacitors and crap, I just want to maybe get 2 8 inch solobarics, I have tons of amps, corssovers, stiffening caps, etc etc etc and kicker sets of 6.5 inch and tweeters, etc, but just a little more bass from the 8's would probably be just right and leave me with plenty of truck room since solobarics do not require much box space. None of this is installed yet just sitting in my garage forever lol

the placement of the amp is not that good. Its not properly ventilated. you might want to consider relocating it, so that you can enjoy full power for a long time without thermal shut off on the amps.

I was messing with you relax, The beater with a heater is a joke also, and don't even get me going on what sounds good, because I can't hear your system in person However, if you consider loud output as sounds good, then we will disagree, properly matched with the rest of the audio system, then we are fine, but i doubt the latter because of no mention of replacing the front speakers and properly amplifying them, so that it can actually produce a decent midbass presence...
I do believe the installs low budget though for being a Mercedes, and that is not saying anything wrong with you or your decisions, just the installers or shops. Some people don't know what to look for. For instance the amp placement, crappy wiring, the budget woofer box that looks like they used particle board, the port opening is horrendous, lack of any grill (not that it is a huge issue, but the first time you have to place something in the trunk and dings the woofer you will be ticked) (also i have done the same thing like 10 years ago, stating i will never put anything in the trunk... which i ended up doing) also what about access to the spare? Now we all know you get what you pay for, and I am not taking pot shots at you... but I believe that the low quality of installs and installers out there just sucks.
