Pair iPhone to an 08 S600?
Hi,
I want to pair my iPhone to a 2008 S600 but I am kind of confused. I can get the car to see the iPhone and start the pairing process, but then the car wants me to input an authorization code. I have experience with pairing a different vehicle to my phone, but I am confused when it comes to this car. Does the vehicle have a different pass key or authorization key than 1234? I have no idea what my iPhone's authorization key is, I didn't think it even had one. iPhone users guide says nothing about the iPhone having a Bluetooth authorization key.
Anybody know the authorization key for the car, or for the phone, or which authorization passkey I am supposed to find? Anything to point me in the right direction would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
MrElussive

I'm not familiar with the iPhone but I doubt it has any fixed pairing key equally as the MB Comand would not have a fixed key.
A fixed key is for devices without any number entry options, like a BT HF headset. When you pair a phone with a laptop for example, depending where you start, one would first request a pairing key from the other device, you then enter the code from the other device and confirm the same code by entering it on the the first device.
Here the MB BT handsfree puck should work like a BT HF headset. Activate the MB BT device for pairing (press the button on the BT puck for 3 seconds), then search for BT (audio) devices from your phone and once you find the MB BT puck, select and give the code from the BT puck user guide. That would be "62872" or "MBUSA".
I get the impression that you were actually trying to pair the Comand with the phone. That can be done too, but not needed for telephony.

You would need the iPhone manual plus the BT puck manual, at least my car manual does not describe this. The BT puck manual should be at the AWS web too. Some previous posts may describe the iPhone pairing too, perhaps you have to be at a specific menu to activate BT connectivity. A quick look at the iPhone manual should be sufficient, the BT puck isn't really more than pressing the button for 3 seconds.

Thanks for the posts everyone. I tried 0000 and that didn't work; I actually tried that the first time I tried to pair my phone because I know that is a common code for Bluetooth devices. In this car, there is no puck and I do not understand that. Both my parents' S550 4Matics have BT pucks in the center console bin, and this car does not. What does the puck do? Is that to synchronize the phonebook or to synchronize the phone and the car for the hands-free calling?

What's the puck used for is the vehicle and the car can already see each other?
I have a HTC one by the way, very new recent phone and a HTC HD2 which runs android also but is about 4 years old. Same issue with both.including my wifes Samsung S3. Any help would be greatly appreciated/

For '07 and later cars, MB moved the Bluetooth puck out of the center console and parked it under the dashboard somewhere. That's when they went from the fancy silver and black puck to a plain black one.
The puck is what allows the phone and the car to "see" each other.
I can't answer the question about your Android phone with any certainty, but the padlock icon you describe may indicate your phone (itself) is locked.

Thanks. I'll get the puck from the dealer on Wednesday and report back.it is really strange though that both phone and car can see each other but cant pair up with functionality without the puck

BrunoBaker, before you buy a puck, check. It was in '08 or '09 that MB COMAND systems started coming with Bluetooth already integrated - which, in those models meant they had a puck - it was just out of sight. Later COMANDs started building Bluetooth into the COMAND units so they did not need a puck at all.
Because your car and your phone can "see" each other, you already have a puck. The problem is in getting the phone to work with what is already in the car - not something extra that you need. I think it is likely a setting on the phone.

Best handsfree
Here is something that works always: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271395945115
It is only $300 and does phone, ipod, straming, handsfree and USB as the original OEM with good quality.
