i believe, if the stereo is the same as the 98-02 CLK, there is a CD-Key you buy. stick it in the slot, and you pull the stereo right out. Very easy.

Just check for the two slotted holes on the bottom 2 corners.

by the way, if that key is what you need, I have a set for sale, still new.

PM or email me if that is what you need.

Yes, my stereo does have the 2 slots. I cant believe its that easy to remove it. Is this all I need to remove to install an aftermarket stereo? Does anyone sell adapters to connect to aftermarket stereo?

I just recently had an audio shop replace the W210 stock head unit with an Alpine head unit and they used a harness to connect it to the stock wiring but I was told there was an external amp that the had to rewire to get the head unit to work correctly with the stock speakers. I'm sure you can get a harness from any stereo shop. They also said I needed an adapter for the antenna connector so you might want to look into getting that also.

Yes, it is that easy to remove the head unit. The keys make it real simple.

As for harnesses, I'm not sure about the antenna, but I belive a VW stereo harness is the same and compatible with MB.

As for the amp, i'm not sure about the old models, but if it uses a digital amp, I'm not sure if you can do it. If you have a non-digital amp, then it might be easy.

Not too sure about this subject. However, I would suggest just using an aftermarket amp to run the headunit. Much cleaner sound, better output overall.

You can find instructions with pictures on radio removal at this url:

Harnesses are kind of tough, not knowing what kind of radio you want to install...

You can use the VW harness. There are a couple of them so the easiest way to be sure is to pull your stock stereo out and make note of the connectors and how they look. Then match up the VW connector that will do the trick.

The only thing you'll need to custom wire is a remote turn on lead. I usually tap into the cigarette lighter postive terminal as that only gets power when the car is on.
