Question no sound, satellite, logic, or cd changer???

I have an '07 GL450. All of a sudden yesterday the comand unit stopped working properly. I have no sound, satellite, logic7, or cd changer. I checked all the fuses, and all the connections (that I could access) and it still doesn't work. The radio turns on and tunes to a station, or the in-dash cd plays, but no sound. The nav works fine - no audio prompts though.

My wife is going to bring the car in this week; but, it's driving me crazy not being able to figure out what is wrong.

Two things that occurred, that I can't imagine would do anything: I installed/tested a Motorola T505 wireless bluetooth car-kit. Worked fine, and went through the speakers, etc. I don't have the MHI Kit, but I do have the communications pre-wiring (part of one of the packages, but they don't give you the kit). I took the unit out. The other, I took the cover off the MHI connector in the center console- there's a little button on the connector, that did get pressed; what does the button do? It would be ridiculous to think that a button that is easily accessible could short or reset the entire comand system, but...

Anyway, if anyone out there knows what could be the problem please help.

Thanks!!

Frustrated with my GL450.

Are you sure you have not activated the mute line with your phone kit installation (I'm sure you would have figured out if the HU mute button had been accidentally pressed)?

The button on the MHI mount is just a spring release for either a cradle or a puck. It doesn't do anything electrically.

Thanks. I figured the little button had no function to the electronics. The car is going in tomorrow, so hopefully the mystery will be solved. I read elsewhere that this behaviour happens sometimes to the H/K systems - but saw it on the C class, no one on the GL that I can find so far.

Thanks.

SL55 AMG
What was the problem?

I have a 2004 SL55 showing the same exact problem. Did you ever figure out the problem?

Thanks,

Clint

Clint,

You wouldn't ordinarily browse there, but the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia has some troubleshooting advice in the Audio Problems section at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post4297972
