How To Disable DRL
Hello,
I was wondering how to disable DRL for an 04 e55.
I have tried on the steering column under lighting, but it didn't work. I also search and someone said I can change this in the Command menu?
Or do I have to take it to the dealer?
Thanks

Why would you want to disable DRL's ?? May studies have show that they are a great safety feature making you much more visable to other motorists.

You change it from "Constant" to "Manual." If that option is not available, your cluster is coded for a different country and assumes DRL is mandatory.

Hello,
I drive an 04, E55
I was wondering if it were possible to turn off the DRL (yellow inner lights) when I turn my headlights on.

I am not sure of a way to do that - I don't know if it is possible. You might be able to version code the car to another county to disable them, but since they are parking lights I am not sure if that is possible. Perhaps someone from another country can chime in as to whether they operate when the headlights are on outside of the USA.

I doubt a dealer would do it -
1. Legal reasons.
2. Most probably do not know how, assuming it's even possible.
You would be better off asking someone independent shop with an SDS to do it.

DRL means daytime running lights.
That's not what these lights are--they are parking lights, which have always been on with headlights on cars sold in the USA since I think 1963.
It's a silly idea. Sorry you care more about how you worry your car looks to others than you apparently care about function. The "function" in this case is to provide a spatial indicator should the headlight be burned out on one side.

fwiw, the newer vehicles use a bulb that is comparable in color temp to the HIDs. You might investigate swapping out bulbs, or get an aftermarket bulb that matches.
