c32/w203 COMAND, no Bose, AMP LOCATION???
... just wondering if anyone knows the location (in trunk?) and how to get to it w/out breaking anything....
spent all day yesterday but could not find one in trunk area.... does one (external amp) even exist or is it integrated w/in COMAND????
TIA
lap
- future modifications contemplated
1. Amp & Speaker Upgrades (hook up of 80gig hard-drive worth of mp3's. )
2. Suspension (have not found one "perfect factory" suspension yet.... why should the c32 be any different..)

wow...
so the COMAND drives my separates (tweeters & mid-base) up front, the co-axials in my rear doors & my rear-deck subwoofer.... if that is the case no wonder it sounds like crap!!!
would you know if the COMAND has low-level pre-outs so I can add a real external amp????
thanks...

You can easily convert Speaker-level outputs to line-level. One of these will do the trick:
http://www.electronixwarehouse.com/c...converters.htm
Some amplifiers even have a high-level input meaning you can run speaker wires from the head-unit directly into the amplifier. The amplifier automatically converts it to line-level and re-amplifies the signal.
I've used these converters many times and they seem to work well.

the hard part is finding a head unit that will allow line level inputs WITHOUT a cd changer connected. also A MUST have is an eq in the headunit. when u play mp3's they are a little different sounding so the eq helps u dial it in. additionally when u rip your mp3's use a min setting of 128bit and coincidentally most of the mp3's u get off of NON pay sites sound like garbage once your system is running tip top.
btw the mp3 player sounds insane with mb quart components and a arc sub with 2 sony es amps.

hi. could someone please help me figure out a way to upgrade the speakers in my 2002 e-320 (210)? The sound is awful, it"s the bose system. the tech informed me that I would probably blow the amp if I added tweeters and removed the base deck speakers to be replaced with 3-ways. He also said that if I replaced the amp, I would probably blow the radio, which could also result in fiber optic issues. I would really like to have better sound. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I live in NJ. Went to a "specialist" who recommended the MB Quartz system(said it was compatable with MB audio). He claimed it was used by MB pre-96, dealer agreed. Price $1200. for amp & 4 speakers installed (2 tweeters and 2 3-ways-for the rear deck). The dealer then informed me of aformentioned problems. Can I trust the "specialist"? Does this sound appropriate? or will it blow my system? Thanks again.

i just had my whole system redone. the only thing that was NOT replaced was the 2 amps i owned already. the cost was $1000. that included labor, mb quart components up front, mb component in the rear tray, a ARC audio 12" sub and a pioneer 7700 head unit that can be adapter to recieve a mp3 player.
b4 i had all sony es stuff with a orion 10" sub and stock mbz speakers. the system i have now kicks the old ones butt and i spent $3000 on the last system. so $1200 sounds good if the amps are good and he is giving you a new head unit.
