Need help with switching out 2008 Command from GL450 to 2009 model Command.
Hi guys,
I got a 2008 GL450, and my command doesnt play DVD's, the Command that comes on 2009-2010 GL's does.
The Command on the 09/10 models also has a hard drive Nav while mine has a DVD NAV.
So my question is, besides a newer command head unit, what els do I need to retrofit it to my 2008 GL so everything will still work.
thanks
Joe

you need a new amplifier, subwoofer, and sub amplifier (unless you have one of the very few GLs that did not have factory amplifier) Also if you have sat radio, you need to get the new sat radio module as well...

you can switch to a command APS with DVD capability ( you will lose sat radio capability) but the amplifiers can still be used.)
Do you have backup camera on your current comand? if you do then you can use an interface called VIDM01 that will give you an A/V input that you can then hook up an external DVD player to. Typical setup involves installing a slimline (7" x 1") single DVD player in the glovebox just below the CD changer or even a headrest DVD system for the rear. You then just switch to aux input and hit a button on the steering wheel to enable the video input (it also allows video in motion)
demo of the kit...

yes my GL does have the backup camera, and it also has the factory rear seat entertainment system along with iPod intergration kit.
so if I use the VIDM01 to gain a video input, how do I get the sound out the the dvd player into the command? I dont have a aux audio in the glovbox since I have the factory iPod kit installed, and I kinda want to keep that.
Also whats the cost of the VIDM01?
Oh and I dont subscribe to sat radio, so I dont really care about loosing it.
