05 CLK 500 Ghost in the Machine!!!!

Check out these 2 pics. Sometimes, when I start the car, I get no sound from the speakers. In the first pic, the buttons on the right, there should be a button that says "sound". I also notice when this happens that the button for the multiple CD player in the glove box is missing. The next morning when I start the car, the missing buttons come back and everything is normal. Anybody have this problem and if so, how do I fix it?

Sorry, the pic on the right, under the "Balance/Fade" button is where the "sound" button usually is. And the pic on the right, under the "cd" button, there is usually another button for the multiple cd player.

No, not the original owner, and there are no navtv parts that I'm aware of.

Yes, the single cd player is behind the display, and the multi cd changer is in the glove box. All original.

sounds like it is in the MOST line. unscrew the screw in the glovebox that holds the changer in. next time that it does that, slide the changer out, unplug the optical wire in the back of it, see if you see the red light on the input side of it.

yes... then you have audio being passed, no... then there is a problem with one of the components, hell it could even be the changer, not passing the optical out to the comand. so, to be technical about it, I would check both the amp and comand also.
