I'd not recommend buying this if that's the only reason.
If you still do, I'd try it out and see if you can skip movies as you described. And you will need that separate cable too.
You are correct about the a/v - but the person watching can simply use the iPhone or iPod and skip movies...
Ask the dealer if you can return it if it doesn't do what you need. I returned stuff before no problem. in fact, test it before you pull off the dealer parking lot.
Remember - for what you want (movies) you also do need that cable. Both should be returnable if they don't do what you need.
This is a simple plug and play. You can test it quickly yourself.

And808- it's NOT a "deep" test of any kind. Simple easy n quick test - plug n play!
If you want to drop the cash, just buy it. But it may or may not do what you want. Also, this device may not even be compatible with your vehicle, depending on year. - FYI.
Do your research prior to buying unless you just feel like buying it for the heck of it. If still seek a return if it won't do what you like.

couple questions I am hoping I can get helped out with from this thread:
I just pulled the trigger on a 2013 G550, super excited to pick it up this week
.
I love the features the MIP offers, but I am not sure if the 2013 G550 already has these features and buying an MIP is overkill, or will I still get the enhanced features the MIP has to offer?
Also, what's the best way to update my firmware to the latest version? Is it something that can be done myself, or should I just shell out and take it to the dealer?
TIA
Rodman

How about on a 2014 CL Class with the new iPhone 6 with IOS 8.1.2 version? I bought the new

Details about WMA3000A Tune2air Music Streaming this is the new cable and Bluetooth connection that went into the original iphone connection in the glove box. It makes it so you do not have to remove your phone from your pocket and everything works VIA command or steering wheel. It will arrive either Monday or Tues. Once I plug it in and then have the phone find the device, I will see if I get everything or just music and not video and text. If not Ill try the MIP with the new 2014 iPhone single cord with the speed connection.

Figured out how to solve the static!
When I first installed my MIP, followed the manual exactly and paired the MIP to the COMAND via bluetooth. This is only necessary if you want to transfer contacts from your iphone to the COMAND phonebook.
I reset the connection, and removed MIP from the COMAND bluetooth list.
The reason for the static was that the phone would be jumping between connections of MI PLUS and MB (COMAND), in other words, the phone would jump a connection to the MIP and then the MIP would pass the bluetooth connection to the COMAND system for phone calls.
Now the phone works flawlessly, just ensure that your phone is paired properly to the COMAND system, and during phone calls, bluetooth connection is to MB not MI PLUS. It shouldnt connect back to MI PLUS for phone calls anymore though.
Try it out and let me know.
The only issue I have now is the overall bluetooth streaming quality.
Vocals are very staticy, does anyone else notice this?

Can you please expand a bit more slowly how you got it to work correctly?
