How to remove storage slot in CLK

I'm trying to remove the storage slot underneath the factory radio in my '99 CLK. I've already removed the radio. I'm afraid of breaking something if I force it too hard. Is there a trick to doing it?

yep don't be worried about breaking it, just grab it on the inside from the sides and pull. :0)

Thanks guys. I gave it a good tug and the sucker popped right out. I mounted a 1/8" jack in there for a place to plug in my iPod. Works great.

I drilled a hole into the back of the storage compartment (I offset it to the right) and went to Radio Shack and got a 1/8" panel mount jack. The jack screwed right in and it's hardly noticible, unless you're really looking for it. Sorry, I'm a bit photographically challenged so there are no pictures.

2000 CLK 430

ipod in 2000 clk 430 cabrio

Mr Big,

I'm trying to get the same thing accomplished in my 2K CLK 430 Cabrio. I'd appreciate it if you could provide some more detailed instructions and/ or photographs. I'd also be willing to talk to you about doing what you did on my vehicle if you live in the area. I've tried the Griffin iTrip and although good on those stretches of road where radio is hard to come by, having it work in NYC is somewhat more difficult. A direct connect to the system would be premium.
