Oh I noticed you did not have a link to the actual product but I was able to quickly find it using Google.

Here is a link the AVIN Avant-2 for our E-Class.

I find it funny that you have the same IP address as member avinusa.com. I'm sure this is a coincidence. Thanks for being a transparent MB enthusiast with no agenda.

BTW, should I ban one or both of your screen names?

Puffing and fluffing aside

100% in agreement with jbondox.
That being said I am going to buy some chinese android head unit to replace my toasted CLK variant.

Will it sound as good? I drive an AMG so what?
Will it fall apart exactly one day after the meaningless warranty? Perhaps?
Is it like 5 generations newer tech even if junk? YES

These are going to be available in the $400-500 range and that is plain and simple my reason given my ride is now 10 years old and while arguably getting better it ain't getting any younger

Been down this road multiple times when I used to work for a stereo shop... phone calls from the customer always followed regarding their disappointment and the famous "you told me so" always followed
I would have to disagree with you and I would have to agree with cold spider, I Had a dynavin in my M5, and I would agree they were garbage. This unit is different, I have posted a review about it, and have been using it for about 3 months with no issues. My installer, who had the same opinion as you do, changed his mind once he was done installing it and testing it out. Besides any aftermarket deck will not be able to integrate the factory MOST AMP without a very expensive module, so you would still have to run and amp and a new sub, plus cut into the dash of my beautiful AMG? I think not....... Just my HO

lol... OK, do you think this even deserves a response? 2 posts about AVIN... OK. Cut into your dash? I fail to see the validity of this also? as out of the many many many MB's i have done, I never cut one up, so i can't see how anyone else would.

Also as the moderator pointed out the 2 people agreeing with each other are the same people... so what part of this scam are you part of?

Sorry to hijack your thread, but Can I ask jbondox a question.
You may have said it in the past and I may have missed it, if so I apologise.

You point out the less than acceptable head units, but what IS a good head unit upgrade for the W211 ?
I have the factory command, but would like a back up camera and a little more loud.
the rest I am quite happy with. DVD works well, 6 stack works well, sat nav is okay. I have a bluetooth hooked into the AUX input so have bluetooth streaming.
just want a rear camera mainly.

if you are happy with all of it, then just do a video conversion, 211 is easy as there is alot of room inside the comand for the video conversion.

If you want it louder, you either have to double the speaker size or double the power for something perceived as louder (physics- because we know physics doesn't apply to AVIN )

You can contact derek@navtv.com and he can point you in the right direction. they can do it for you or you can do it yourself if you don't mind opening your comand up.

Smile Avin MOST Fiber Optic Amp Interface

According to their website, they have now a MOST Fiber Optic Amp Interface that should work with the AWG in the E55. Says you maintain factory sub-amp and everything with the upgraded HK system. Has anyone experienced this yet?

I tried to install a MOST interface, but i have had no luck getting it to work yet..
And the clock in instrumentpanel is not synced, and the CD/compartment tray is not opening any more

I was told not to comment on this anymore... but when I say that the cheap China stuff is junk, I meant it. Do you people think I get compensated for the posts? I just come here because I am an MB fan, and been doing mobile electronics since 94ish professionally, then retired from it, but still dabble in my, family and friends vehicles.

I know where they get the cheap interfaces from, or radios

Also just want to say that one day you are going to accidentally eject the navigation sd card, and if not the first or second time, the 3rd time it will be a paper weight

i've read you will need to have your car recoded without navigation which thus enables clock menu within the cluster settings.

It's one of the options in the cluster settings to adjust the clock and not sync with the navigation unit. No recoding necessary unless I'm missing something here.

Anyone know of a good Kenwood/Alpine that will mirror a iphone/youtube/pandora? That was one of the only reasons I would consider the cheap units....untill I read Jbondox post...thanks man btw.
