Motorola has told me that the UHI will be compatible with v600. I think Motorola has a role in developing UHI. They also say UHI will be available in the US 2Q 2004 on "some" MB models, but do not specify which ones. I think that's up to MB, and I wish they'd be more forthcoming on this.

dows anyone know if the current UHI interface will work with the future Motorola v600 Phone or will the UHI need a firmware update? I'm thinking of getting the UHi interface but wanted to know if I should wait.

UHI compatible cell phones
Hi,
at the moment, in Germany there are cradles available for the cell phones mentioned below:
Nokia 6310i, 6310, 6210
Siemens S45, S45i, C45, M50, MT50, ME45, S55, C55 und M55
Motorola V60i
Sony Ericsson T610
Wiring for UHI is preinstalled ex factory for the 203 and 209 models since July 2003 (are these cars called MY04 in USA?). The wiring includes optical D²B or MOST fibres, copper wiring for the control unit, copper wiring for the cradle, wiring for the hands free microphone (mirror).
As far as I know, the UHI cabling is preinstalled for the 211, 230 as well, but I'll have to check that to be sure.
The 211 will be equipped with UHI preinstalled cables from July 2004 on.
The cradles cost about 100 Euro in Germany, which is about 120 USD.

so, is there any final word as to when the UHIs will hit the states?? anyone know if cars not pre-wired can be wired for it?? Honestly, I'd be surprised if this thing came here anytime soon, and if it does, I'm sure it will be overpriced and won't be straightforward to install or make work...

Not a Benzer anymore
For Some Reason I agree with moa4r
I have a strange feeling (based upon MB in general) that the UHI will not be our saving grace in terms of phone upgrades.
I get the impression that to put a free or $50.00 phone in our cars with the UHI, it will cost us many, many hundreds of dollars or it will be for only certain cars, made on certain days, sold only in certain towns, etc...
Sorry, just a funny feeling...

are you sure this is the cradle only? Does it include the PSE Unit as well. If it's 480 for the cradle, that's way too expensive. The current cradle for 6310i is around 100 dollars.

apparantly the UHI option is a 550 EURO add on in Germany when you purchase the car. Probably a bit more if you but it later on. Seems like the clip that holds the cradle in place is mounted in the center console itself. The cradles are eaisly replaceable for different model of phones. I just ordered the UHI kit from germany and will keep everyone posted on how it goes. I got the Nokia 6310i cradle for it. Unfortunatly we won't be able to use the handset privatly like the older cradle with the coiled wire. There is no coiled wire with the new cradles.
