MP3 player now built into COMAND?
Can anyone with a very recent COMAND try this? I will try to see the tech guy when he gets back.
Here is my website with links that describe how I did the install.
COMAND 2.0 Retrofit

I have been at the CeBit exhibition in Germany today. I came across the Harman/Becker stand where they were demonstrating all the navigation/communication systems that they make for car manufacturers, including Daimler Chrysler. On the MB pod they had the COMAND APS module, and on the list of features was listed "MP3 Player / Decoder (from fall 2003)". Unfortunately the tech guy was away till Monday, but the people there seemed to think it would work by putting a CD or DVD with MP3 tracks into the DVD slot on the dash.

I recently retrofitted my 01 C320 with a 2004 US-Spec COMAND head unit and it plays CDs burned with MP3 songs .... works great actually ......

I have no idea if MP3s will play on a 2003 spec COMAND unit. You can always try ... it won't hurt anything ....

What exactly is an Mp3 cd? What is the difference between a burned cd and a mp3 cd? Are they the same thing?
b. Regular audio-cd is burned using the audio format.
A typical cd holds 80 mnts of audio or 700 megabytes of data. A typical 3 mnt song in MP3 format is about 5 megabytes, hence you can potentially have 700/5 or 140 songs (or 700/3 = 233 mnts) on a data cd.
Hope that helps.
