Using Bose outputs...

You can use the speaker outputs from the Bose, but then the you are just adding more distortion to the Bose outputs.

Also, there is some filtering in the Bose amp, the subwoofer output for the lows, may be limited on the low end (maybe only 100Hz to 40Hz?). The regular outputs probably have the below 100Hz bass stripped off, already.

so...... there's really no way to keep the stock COMAND head unit while swapping out the speakers and amp?

I already have an external amp/sub that I've hooked up, but it left the system unbalanced (too much bass for the rest of the speakers) so I took it out. If I could upgrade the interior speakers and amplify them to match another sub, I'd be better off... unless it would just end up sounding horrible.

Bottom line - decent idea or horrible idea?

Thanks for your input!!

m444 - Thanks again, you've been so helpful. I tried the subwoofer wire and I get more lows. It seems like it is filtered and it matches the main speaker outputs better.
