NAV Question...

I've been doing some searches here but couldn't find the answer to my question.

I'm somewhat confused with the nav system. I live in New Jersey and was going to a suburb in Philadelphia aobut 2 weeks ago. When I entered my destination, the nav system didn't recognize it because it was on another cd. I ejected the current cd and inserted the one with the destination. Entered the address again and it was able to recognize it. I then ejected that cd of Philadelphia and inserted my home cd. And I don't think it worked at all. I pretty much gave up.

How do you use the nav system if your destination spans 1 cd?

I wish this was as easy as my Lexus' nav system which is dvd-based and touch screen!

Thanks for the help!

I understand, have to switch CD in different places is a pain. DVD is the way to go. But I am not a fan of touch screen, my sister's boyfriend has one in his Lexus and it requires cleaning all the time. Guess he might want to consider stop eating in the car or use a fork...

I had the same problem going from Washington DC to New Jersey. The only way around was to find a point on I95 really close to the end of the map on the 1st CD and navigate to it. Then create a 2nd navigation route using the 2nd CD to the final destination. It was a pain in the rear but I couldn't find a better solution. I read in another post that new CDs for 2004 include all the major roads so you can navigate between cities on two different cds.
Any other solutions out there?

Good luck !

I have the SC430 and the RX330. Both have touchscreen nav but not voice-activated. Not sure if the LS430 has voice-activated nav.

I'm putting an order for an 05 SL55 and trade-in my 500. Going to the dealer on Friday. Hopefully, the dvd nav on the 05 is better!

LS430 has voice recognition, it's quite convenient.
