How to keep sub box from moving in trunk?
I have a JL Audio sub box installed in the trunk of my 2004 E500. The wedge shape of the box allows me to push if flush to the back of the rear seats. The problem is that when I accelerate hard, or take a hard turn, the box will slide around. Is there a way to secure the box so that it won't move around, or tip over? It stays put in normal driving conditions, but who wants to drive it normally?

Did you try the velcro yet? I am curious, because I am about to have the same problem as you.

I haven't tried the velcro yet, I was going to, but then I thought about what you said regarding the carpet on the bottom of the trunk not being stapled down. Now I'm not sure if that solution would work.

the actual box in my trunk install is screwed down. your box has the lips on the sides...look under your trunk liner and make sure nothing important is there, and just screw it down. granted the carpet is a bit coarser in my CLK, but when you take the box out, the carpet is such that you cant even see the holes. velcro doesnt work. the velro part doesnt grip strongly enough to the short carpet and the adhesive side doesnt stick to the carpet either. with two screws, you cant move my box if you wanted to.

Yup, I'm going to pass on the screw down solution.
Guess I'll just try the velcro solution first to see if it works. It's a cheap method to try out, and if it doesn't work, then I'm not out that much $$.

I don't know how the trunk is setup in the E class but in my C soupe and the CLK, there are rings that come through the carpet of the trunk to tie down items and similar items are placed on the back of the rear seats. I used bungy cords at first (you cna buy them at like home depot) and it worked pretty well but then the carpet would slide around. So what i did was i took the carpet off adn took it to a lumber shop and cut out a piece of 1/2 inch wood in the same shape and placed it in my trunk and bloted the subwoofer box down to it. I simply painted the wood but you can get the wood carpented to match the trunk and it will work great. Now my box doesn't slide around at all.

you boys just need a bigger sub.
12" boston and 1500 watt kenwood amp in a ported box - thing weighs about a metric ton.
i could flip the car and it wouldn't move.
granted, it's probably killing my gas mileage . . .
