Even with the updated software, the V600 doesn't seem to work correctly...

you can do the update yourself also. You need a cable and software. Check howardforums for "how to flash and flex" the phone. I updated my v600 to the latest software and I still had too many issues. I replaced it with a nokia 6230. Beautiful phone!

pardon my ignorance......
With the UHI do you still need the "official" Mercedes-Benz version of the phone? Similiar to the V60 problems.
I'm waiting for the Mikbox, just curious.
2002 G500
soon to have V600 integrated with a Timeport PSE (hope I'm not jumping the gun on this Mik!)

Hey, my 6310i is travelling in Scandinavia right now - excellent cell coverage there - even very remote areas have good signal strength.

Integrated phone query
Hi all,
New to this board and to MB in general. I am in the market for a 1-2 year old MB - maybe an e class or SLK (if my wife wins the argument). However, I am required by my employer to utilize a full integrated handsfree phone whilst driving and I am having a hard time understanding what is needed to get this done and what is even possible? I looked at the mikbox page but it appeared I would have to buy a car that has a phone system installed already to use this and I don't beleive there are many out there that fall into that category. And to do a retorfit I would need a PSE correct? Are these expensive devices? I can do all the install myself thats no prob but would need to know the parts...
Also, if I purchase an MB now what happens if this mikbox thing doesn't happen - how long has this been in "development" anyway? Any other solutions out there?
TIA,
Randy aka Confused in Georgia...

I think the prices for those parts depend on your area. Here in Washington DC metro area the prices are:
PSE (V60 Q682-0845) $212
Dual Band Compensator $348
Antenna Switch $128
Y-Cable $72
The brackets for the individual car models and other hardware parts cost about $100
If you buy a car that has no phone kit, and you want to use teleaid, the car antenna, and you want to install it with the OEM parts, and buy those at the dealer, you will spend about $1000 including the Mikbox, not including the cradle.
There are ways to save money though. Try to get the expensive parts on ebay. I installed the kit in a C class two weeks ago, the owner spent $400 for the entire solution (the $400 included the PSE, compensator, antennaswitch, v60 cradle, mikbox). I gave him a v300 cradle and cable for his v60 cradle, since he wanted to use a v300 phone.
I got the mikbox idea in January, so it has been 7 months. I do this in my spare time, and I do have a life, so the timeframe is somewhat unpredictable. But the production units are built, and right now I am going through the pre-order list that I have collected since mid March and offer the units to people who signed up.

While you're there (or in Germany), go to a dealer and ask for part numbers A211 820 17 35 and A211 828 03 88. See what you get.
