I was considering getting a system for my 2000 S500. I do recall putting a system in my previous car and the results were disappointing. I recall putting in a pair of eclipse 88120 subs with an orion 1100 amp. The trunk rattled alot!! Which then forced me to just sell the whole damn thing. Considering the S class is made better and also features the pneumatic trunk closer I was wondering if I could simply throw in a couple of subs and an amp and get a satisfying outcome? I was leaning towards 2 12" 12w7's and a jl audio 1000.1 amp. I want to have the assurance of knowing it'll end up sounding perfect before making the first step of buying the stuff. TIA!

the components you talk about are very good... but it will rattle. you need to dynamat.
so say i dynamated the whole trunk, it would sound crisp and clear inside and out?

if your getting 2 12w7 you need 1000/1 amp to each sub... 1 12w7 needs a 1000/1... best setup get 2 12w7 with focal utopia speakers and JL amp... perfect setup...it will hit hard

Interesting side effect of adding all those speakers and amps.... They rattle. They rattle so hard, it causes errors within the ESP sensors on your vehicle, and ESP will activate for no apparent reason, and set a bunch of fault codes. Drove some of us nuts till somebody figured it out.....

yes, dynamat will make everything much much better.
i have systems in alot of cars ive owned, and never did it trip error codes or esp.
hes talking about a sub set up... and he can run one jl. it is more ideal to have two... one for each sub. focals are great, but he wasnt talking about mids and highs.

The design of a custom trunk has a lot to do with it too. My trunk never rattled before and I have NO dynamat.
