Hello,
I manage to get the bose subwoofer (for trunk). I would need to get a amplifier (like alpine).
I want to install it in my car.
I have comand installed. (it has 4 outputs for each speaker).
My question is:
Where I have to hook up the amplifier?
The lines that get out of the command are directly connected to the speakers or do they go to an amplifier?
Best Regards,
Ruben.

Hy Ruben
im new here but i think i can help you.
please excuse my bad english but i'm from germany
Your problem is that the comand already have an amp and the outputs are behind the amp.
So if you install an extern amp you need one wich can receive the signal from the comand behind the comand-amp.
I know it works with an xtant-amp because my father also didi it like that but now the amp is broken and xtant dont already sell amp's in germany
but i think in the states you can already buy them
so have a nice day
best regards

Herzlich Willkommen in unserem Forum Oli.
rubensans ist in Spanien und nicht in der USA.
@rubensans
You will need to get a high/low adapter unless your amp can accept speaker level inputs. You might also have issues with that BOSE sub from what people have been saying on here. Appearently BOSE speakers have a different, non-standard, impedance. Verify this with a VOM. Hook it to the input/voicecoil and measure the DCR. If its around 3 Ohm or higher you should be fine driving it with an aftermarket amp. If I remember correctly the sub in the coupe is only 4" x 6", judging from previously posted pics. That really isn't worth it. You would most likely be better off with an aftermarket larger one.

Can I replace the stock amp with another one that has subwoofer output?
I bought bose for the enclosure.
Where is the amp located in the coupe.
About mesurment I need to measure the impedance between the subwoofer in, no?
Best Regards.

@amdeutsch Danke ups hab ich jetzt auch gesehen naja kann man nichts machen
@rubensans I think you can't because the original bose amp is connectet with D2B to the headunit

Apologize for the somewhat OT question.
My installer put a JL sub and amp in my Harmon Karden E55 and now thw 2 rear lid speakers, which he retained in their revious places, minus the 10 inch factory rear deck sub, sound barely audible, even if pannong full to rear.
Any advice?
I think he took the new subs feed from the rear deck wiring.
He said the impedence of the 2-4 inch rear speakers was 1.5 ohns
Thank you very much

I might have something that may solve your problem. Not sure, but you can probably use a speaker line RCA converter. Audio shops usually use the "cheap" ones that cause alot of noise and aren't that good. Not until Audio Control (www.audiocontrol.com) released their new speaker line converter called the Audio Control LC6. This is a very respectable company in the audio world and they've finally (hopefully) released a converter that will allow you to keep your existing factory H/U and run aftermarket amplifiers/speakers without the poor conversion.
The LC6 can accept 2/4/6 channel speaker input and converts it to 2/4/6 channel RCA outputs to a seperate amplifier (2/4 channel and sub amp)! And because they make great products, I'm sure this will be the top on on the market for factory conversions.
Its fairly new (released in July 04 I think) and it retails for $149, but if you search online, you can find shops going for about $135. I'm looking to keep my factory H/U and upgrade to MB Quart/JL AMp/and Woofers using this new converter, then connecting it to an Audio Control Xover before sending to the amplifier. Hope this helps.

I saw that some alpine amplifiers have speaker input.
I think this one is a good solution:

What do you think about it?
Best Regards,
Ruben.

Hello,
My car has comand from factory without Bose Sound.
I need answers to few questions:
1.- To Comand has 4 lines outs that goes to the speakers.
a) Is it an amplifier inside the comand, or it is outside, or inside and outside?
b) How many power (W) and how many ohms have the outputs?
2.- The stock speakers are how many ohms and how many power W?
3.- The Bose Subwoofer is how many ohms and how many power W?
Thanks in advance and Best Regards.
Ruben.

Most relatively good quality amplifiers (such as Alpine or Pioneer) with speaker inputs generally work better than using a separate cheap line convertor. They also can remove the need for a separate remote turn on wire, which is a good think with most Mercedes.

I've installed 2 12 inch subs, 2 jl audio amps and new speakers all round and i'm still running the audio 10 head unit and changer (soon to be comand).
I'm using a audio control eq with a line tap directly from the back of the head unit and split into the eq creating 3 channels for the front rear and sub output and it sounds great.
Thanks
Neil

I was just wondering what was the easiest way of adding some more BASS in my car without buying a whole new box/amp, etc...? i have a 2004 C32 that comes with the bose surround system... it has already i see a sub in the trunk on the top right section - fitted very flush... was wondering if i wanted to add another to the "left" side what would have to be done, probably would need a new amp or so, no?
thanks in advance - Adam

I've been looking to bump up the bass on my w208 but it's like pulling teeth. This place needs more sticky threads with this sort of info... a bunch of searches either show up people asking and never getting a reply, or conflicting information. I've heard that you need a line converter, that you can just swap out the amp because there's copper to it, that it's all fiber and you need actual black magic to get an aftermarket amp or subs hooked up, etc.

well i have the non bose system here in australia and I plan to do the following this weekend.
disconnect the origianl sub that is on the rear shelf...from this the speaker wire into a line converter then the rca from that to the amp and im hoping to add just a woofer....if this works then ill let you all know....it should i dont see why there would be a problem,..

Any updates on this?
I bit the bullet and got that Audiobahn 10" bass tube and put it in the trunk, and the bass is basstastic now... but I'd still like more.
Took me a while to tap into the rears, since there's no pinouts available anywhere, and I couldn't find ACC back there so I ran the remote start to the front -- not a big deal, since I had to run the control knob cable up there anyway. Hooked everything to the battery and strapped that sucker in, and it's all good.
It's not "blow out your windows" bass, but it's certainly much, much better than stock... plus with it being all enclosed and cheap, I can just swap it out when I find something better.

Took me forever though, but that's because the trunk is not the most comfortable place to work in...
And since nothing is labelled, finding the leads to the left/right rears was a pain. But after I tapped into them it was just getting to the battery (which is right there) and running the ACC to the front... piece of cake.Plenty of bass, plenty of trunk left. And like I said, it's all easy to disconnect to make room for more luggage or to get to the spare (which was a must for me). I didn't wanna mess with a huge box and making an amp rack or anything... I know there are better ways of doing it, and you can get more juice out of a 10,000 watt amp or something, but it adds nothing to my car and it's a PITA to remove, so (for now) I'm happy.
I'm in the city all day on 24th & Lex if you wanna come see it, btw.
