Adding video to MCS Console

Has anyone attempted to add video to there ML MCS console? I know it can be done, I have seen it and know there is a company in ny that does it. I was wondering if anyone has done it first hand or am I going to be the first to attempt it? I have found directions to do it with an Acura TL Navigation screen so I think it should be similar... needs some twisted pairing wire similar to RJ45 and then I also need an RGB converter and some other little things.

You can also consider getting a Factory Comadn unit to replace teh MCS and get a factory TV tuner.

ML video

Yeah I knew of Nav TV... I was just hoping there were directions online available... NAV TV wants 12-1300 bucks to do it. Its pretty easy to do. If Im gonna spend that much I would prefer to just get an aftermarket unit like pioneer's AVIC-N1. I can get it from my work for around that same price. That will also give me the ML's performance specs and will also give me a set of High Volt preouts and audio controls that will sound a lot better than my mercedes unit.

How difficult is it to retrofit the command module into my 2000 ML 55 with the NAV? And what am I looking at for price? Also is it just TV tuner or will it have an audio/ video input for a dvd player?

I have already installed the Avic N1 in my vehicle but am unhappy with the way it looks(picture quality is great, I dont like the aftermarket look on my dash... I enjoy the stock MB look more, I can transfer the N1 in to my supra or sell it for less than what I paid for it...???

what unit do you have? is it the MCS of old? do they sell parts and accesories and directions? Is it a DIY type of kit or not?... can you take pictures of yours for me?

i just spoke to the guys (naviplus.tv) on the phone, you take your unit out and ship it to them, the same day they get it is the same day that they ship it back out to you. their unit is only for video and AUX inputs, it does not include a tv-tuner, however if you dont need a tv-tuner, for the price they seem like the ones to go with, they also enable video in motion for you in your unit. i'm really considering this option as it is less than half of the price of Steve's, but Steve's is factory OEM mercedes and includes 2 inputs plus tv-tuner, not to mention professional installation of the entire car, not just modifications to the head unit, i'm so torn right now

i am interested in navi-tv also but wondering if anybody else can vouch for them. Nothing personal but I would like to see if anybody else with more than 12 posts (most of which are related to navi-tv) have deal with these guys before I send in my $1000+ nav system.

I agree,! I got off the phone with the guy from naviplus,. he dosen't sound very professional at all... I hear all background noises and tv sound...

I think this guy is doing it at his home or something.

And I have a strong feeling he is a korean or indian., because the way he talks sound like it

if any one from NY can actually go down there and see whats up with them. that would be great

I'm looking for this mod as well and I did some research on the various companies. I checked out naviplus.tv on google and came across a post on another forum. Seems like these guys are crooks and I would stay away from them. The owners aren't indian or korean, he's actually russian and I honestly don't see why that would matter anyways but whatever. From what I read on a forum which was sponsered from naviplus but has been dropped because of the scam, they sent 2 damaged units to a customer and then refused to refund the guys $1500 after sending both units back. I would stay clear from them because they seem very shady. I've talked to avelectronics and I think i'll be going with them.

I installed a DVD NAV into my MCS in a 99 ML320. Pretty easy, drops in from above. In a 2001 ML with TeleAid some wires under the passenger seat may have to be reconfigured if no nav was installed previously. Some info:

Just call a few places and see what prices they can offer for the DVD navigation module. When I upgraded in 2003 there was a wholesale MB dealer parts department in West Chester Pennsylvania which had the best pricing at the time. Installation is easy, plug and play, but requires a Torx 10 screw driver.
