V600/V710 kits

Today, I successfully tested a V600 kit in the following cars:

- 2003 W211
- 2002 W463
- 2004 W463
- 2001 W208

I expect the V710 to work as well when it is available. The V60s should also work for those who REQUIRE Verizon.

We'll be offering these fully integrated kits initally for these cars:

2003-2004 W211 E-class (requires installation)
2004 W215/W220 S-/CL-class (requires installation)
2003 W215/W220 S-/CL-class
1999-2002 W208 CLK-class
2003-2004 W209 CLK-class
2001-2004 W203 C-class
2002-2005 W463 G-class
2003-2004 R230 SL-class
1999-2002 W210 E-class

Cars noted above as "requires installation" must be installed by someone with access to Star Diagnosis to deactivate TeleAid.

Some cars are available as "custom" installations and require installation by MBenzNL. These are:

2001-2004 W163 M-class
1999-2000 W202 C-class
2000-2002 W215/W220 CL-/S-class

Pricing is pretty expensive, but if you really want a Motorola V600 or V710 or V60s in an older car, this is the way to go (or if the MikBox works suitably for you and is available for your car, that's definitely another good possibility). Figure about $900 for the "base kit". You NEED to use a Mercedes USA phone, so the phone/cradle is available from your dealership or with the kit. The V600 and V60s are $725 list, and the V710 is $1135 (whoa!).

If you price a similar kit for a 2005 car using the same phones, you'll see this is quite a bit cheaper.

And UHI is still an option for the above cars, allowing a wider choice of GSM phones, and the use of phones subsidized by your carrier (meaning a phone that ranges from free to a few hundred bucks at full price).

I'll post some pictures tomorrow if I can find my camera and memory card reader... sigh.

Nope! You should ask Micha (check www.mikbox.com); but I am not sure when he's coming back (see previous threads).

Sorry to sound like a newbie on this, but am I understanding correctly that the new V710 will work in the existing V60 hands free/voice activation system I have installed in my 2004 Sl55 R230? Or will I need an additional kit as well? Or...?

No, if you have V60 kit, you have a V60 kit, that's all it does. If you get an MHI kit from MBenzNL (the dealers will not sell an MHI kit for any 2004 cars), then you can use a V60, V600, or V710 with the appropriate cradle that can be changed in 10 seconds. If you get an UHI kit from MBenzNL, you can choose from about 20 different GSM phones, with a different kind of cradle that can be changed in about 10 seconds as well. The MHI cradles/kits require Mercedes-branded phones to work; the UHI cradles/kits work with generic unbranded phones.

2003 SL500 Sport Package
Scorchie -- I noticed you mentioned you might have a kit availble for a 2003 SL500. Was wondering if there is one that would work with a Motorola V3 Razr phone and could be integrated into the 2003 SL500 ? If so I would definitely like to order one and all the items I would need.

Thanks

Is there a better way to upgrade to the new V600 / V710 ?

I am willing to bet you can run a MHI V600 or MHI V710 phone on a 2004 V60i CP interface, right now, today. There is no difference between the V60i phone for the PSE, CP, or MHI systems. The cradles and connections are the only thing different. You can plug an AT&T V60i into any of the systems right now, today, and it will work. The 2005 phone part number list shows the AT&T V60i number as Q6820853, exactly what is used for both the CP and PSE phone systems. This means the sync communications must all be the same and the PSE, CP, and MHI devices are looking for the same function response to make sure the phone is a Mercedes phone. The phone pinouts on the bottom of the three phones are all exactly the same.

Have you tried connecting a new Mercedes phone to the older CP and PSE using a cradle other than the new MHI? It would be a lot cheaper then purchasing the new MHI interface. If someone could wire-up some cradles. it would provide a very cost effective way for everyone to upgrade their handset.

p.s. On your other point, I will show you an AT&T V60i that will not work on a 2003/2004 car with US CP-HIGH... so NO, not ALL V60i will work in place of the Mercedes phone. Oh yeah, and although you didn't state it, it was somewhat implied... a generic V600 doesn't work in the MHI cradle either.

Hi, the UHI kit only supports the following phones:

- Nokia: 6310i, 6100, 6610, 6610i, 6220, 6230A, 7250i
- Moto: V60i (GSM)
- Sony: T610, T616, T630, T637
- Siemens: C56, S55, S56, CX65, S65

You can also get an MHI kit which supports these phones:

- Motorola V600 (MB-branded)
- Motorola V710 (MB-branded)
- Motorola V60s (MB-branded)
- Motorola V60x (MB-branded)
- Motorola V60i (MB-branded, TDMA version)

Obviously the UHI kits allow you to use cheaper non-branded phones. We do have it ready to work for the M-class though. If you have further questions, please try a search or send us an e-mail.

I have a Nokia 6310i with ATT GSM installed in my 04 CLK, but are unhappy with the reception in Denver (even with an amplifier). Is there a V710 kit? I have Verizon also.

So if I had a unbranded and unlocked V6000 it would not work with a MHI phone kit? I am assuming that MB has the phones flashed with there own software. If could get a hold of a MB branded V600 I could copy the flash on it with Moto tools and reflash my V600 and it should work fine.
I cant believe no one has tried it yet, since its very easy to flash Motorola phones...

I priced out the V600 kit with the phone and it was $1490 from dealer... so the UHI's are an excellent value..

Agree with you about the flash (also could just be a flex) but copying a flash from a phone is I am told not so easy. If somebody could figure out how to get the software off of the MB phone, you could use it on any other v600 (not so sure about the v710's ability to be flashed and flexed).

By the way, I do have a MB v600, and I also have appropriate flashing/flexing software. Does anyone know how to get the flash from the phone into a file that could be used on another phone? Since I have an unlocked v600, I could then create a backup.

Not so easy. I've been a Howard Forum member for a long time. AFAIK, ther eis no easy way to copy a flash or flex from one phone for installation to another. You've got to get your hands on the OEM file and then use the software -- unless someone has invented something new.
