Did anyone here tint the car?
Hey guys,
I tinted my c-coupe (my first car I'm tinting) and now whenever it's dark out and there are lights shining at me there are tons of horizontal reflections across the defrost lines. Does anyone else have this problem?
I've never had tint before so I'm not sure if it's normal but I find it pretty irritating.

That is a normal thing to see some refraction of light coming from the defrost lines. It is even more noticeable on vehicles like Mercedes or others that have very thick defrost lines.
What is happening is the tint has to flex up and over the line and there is a slight air pocket between the defrost line and window film. When headlights shine on the tint, it refracts the light on top and bottom of that line causing it to have that multiple headlight effect.
What I was told to do is stop staring at the rear view mirrow and to learn how to glance at the rear view mirror and look through the film. This will help you to adjust to the window tint and it won't bother you anymore.
My window tinter has been tinting for about 16 years now and has only had one customer that complained about this problem and just couldn't live with it and had him remove the film.

Interesting.
I've had tinting done on many different vehicles and never noticed that on any of them, so this must be due to MB thick demister lines then ??
Does anyone know if this also occurs on cars which have the OEM factory privacy tint added to the rear windows ??
If not it may be a good idea to option for it and then just use aftermarket film on the front door windows only.

On a side note, when I had my E92, I "blacked" out the entire car! My tint was 15%!!! Here's a few pix.

Yeah, when I tinted my c300 w204 I noticed this phenomenon too. CTBenz23 explained why this occurs correctly. The defogger lines are much thicker on a mercedes-benz, causing this refraction. I have gotten used to it, and the auto-dimming mirror definitely helps. But I believe that the pros outweight the cons. When your rear glass is frozen or heavily fogged, you will apprectiate the fact that your mercedes will have it clear in less than a minute.
In comparison, in my grandma's Hyundai (Genesis) it takes a good 5 minutes before I can actually see out of the back...
Plus, the way I drive, I rarely have to look in the rear-view mirror as I'm not worried about anyone coming up faster behind me... ;-)
