The AMG Sports Package gives the all new C-Class Coupé an even more dynamic and athletic appearance, and increases its sportiness and agility as well. This is made possible by the numerous AMG-specific fittings for the exterior and interior and by AMG engineering.
Equipment and appointments at a glance:

AMG bodystyling comprising front apron, side sills and rear apron

Black floor mats with AMG lettering
Lowered sports suspension

When I bought my C250 CDI the dealer informed me about the posibility of buying a "Dynamics Package" which would add a SPORT button right next to the hazard/emergency lights (sorry for not knowing how it's called, the red triangle button).
Now...the thing is, he says, whenever you hace the SPORT button pressed a little drop of gasoline is released in the exhaust system, hence the small blurp you talk about.
I don't know if this is the sound you've been hearing, but it's what the dealer explained to me.

AFAIK the CDI's don't have that 'pop' on WOT upshifts that we've been discussing here, it happens only on petrol forced induction engines

I've recently (yesterday actually) driven just about all the CDI and petrol variants currently available from the MB stable on a race track (at an AMG drive day) and certainly no CDI was 'popping' on upshifts, the N/A C63 however was at times and also on it's rev matched downshifts, probably a product of unspent fuel getting into the exhaust.
I'll write up a separate thread when I get the chance on my experiences with driving some of AMG's finest machinery
