You probably just want green filters. Helped throttle response and added about 1-2mpg on my R171 SLK350. Maybe a new downpipe on the I-4 turbo would help?

I'm curious about these "green filters" could you explain?

Guys just do a search for green filters here on site and you will find info. They are high flow air filters that are less restrictive when it comes to air flow but some argue that they don't filter as good as stock. So it's up to you to decide.
In any case they do help the engine breath better and give a little crisper response.

The green filters are indeed less restrictive because they filter less. Have to trade one thing off for another!

I got a K&N high flow air filter and my mpg is definitely better and so is my throttle response. $60 well spent

BMS is also making an air intake. I am waiting for them to go public with it.

Go to n54tech.com and check out the c250 section. BMS is also the company that makes the JB+ tune for the c250 coupes and sedan. They have an intake already made and testing it on their tester car. I am just waiting.... patiently waiting lol

Can you link us to the actual filter please? Was the installation complicated?

I don't like K&N - they require you to oil them - sometimes screwing up MAF sensors and causing problems. If you wanted to go "high performance" which is really just another word for - less filtering, then go with green filters. They are still long lasting, and don't require oiling. You just take them out to clean/vacuum them occasionally.

Sorry Hz I didn't see the original reply to my post to explain Green Filters.

Guys, do you think it's worth it more to get:

Green Filters:
Pros: Cheap, Adds 1-3mpg
Cons: Adds no power, doesn't filter well

Intake (by BMS) when it comes out:
Pros: Adds hp/tq, makes engine more efficient (higher effective mpg)
Cons: Maybe expensive, lowers real mpg because it will alter driving habits

I'm only keeping my car for another 2.5 years on lease so I could care less whether it doesn't filter well.

After reading this I did like 5 minutes of research only to find out that K&N filters barely do anything. Not getting it. I'll wait for the CAI from Burger Motorsports.
