Mike,
Any testing with the JB+ dialed up to 100%? I would think that you would at least have been curious as to the max potential of this chip?

Greetings. I tested it and here is from my post on the sedan section.
I noticed the C250 JB+ tune is now available on the burgertuning website so I will now post on my impressions. I have had the unit for approximately one month but have not written about it in order to give an ample trial period.
INSTALLATION and PACKAGING:
The unit is a piggyback module that comes ready to plug in. It is easy to connect. It takes approximately 5 minutes. The overall quality of the packaging of the product (wire insulators, solder, connectors) is very good. My only gripe would be that one connector mates to another without a true socketed connection but rather relies upon the pins from the factory connector to act as the fulcrum and connection rather than an OEM fit that would allow a secure male to female socketing. That being said, I did not experience any damaged pins throughout this relatively short period of time I have had it.
1/4 MILE DATA:
I first connected the JB+ and noted it comes OEM dialed in at the 50% setting. I experimented up to the 75% level at first and took it to the 1/4 mile track at Palm Beach International Speedway. I had run the JB+ for approximately 300 miles. With the unit dialed in at 75% settings I ran a 15.60 at 88.9mph. I then disconnected the unit, drove the car a bit, came back and ran the car bone stock. Bone stock the car ran 15.49 at 89.92mph. The results are technically a statistical wash. There was no improvement nor decline in 1/4 mile performance.
CITY DRIVING DATA:
Around town under moderate and mild mannered driving conditions there is considerable more torque in the lower rev band (until 4500rpm or so). I say under mild mannered conditions because any prodding of our throttle past 1/2 throttle or so will create a downshift and you'll be up over 4500rpm and out of the powerband of where this unit is adding torque. You can absolutely feel the torque when giving a light touch to the throttle for passing and acceleration from cruising speed. This low end torque increase is mirrored by the dyno logs posted by Terry. For the majority of folks who do not spend much time at redline this will be a terrific mod and it does add noticeable torque.
SUMMARY:
For the great majority of C250 drivers this will be a great mod. For the price of $279 it is a real no brainer. Unlike the sprint booster (no comments on this please) this mod really does add torque and for the price, there is nothing out there like it. For the person who is wanting added power for a lap day or for quarter mile runs, you'll probably want to wait for a tune and hardware package that can address the upper rev band where you will use that power. I suspect this is a great minority of drivers however. Top end is important to me though so i'll probably take the next step and look for a solution that addresses top end. I do actually take the car to redline several times each time I drive it. I do hit the sport shifting button 100% of the time as part of my startup ritual and my average mpg display shows 17mpg. If your average mpg display shows over 20mpg, this mod is probably for you. I'm glad it's out there and i'm still pleased with the purchase. I cant wait for more. Additionally, I found Mr. Terry Burger very easy to purchase from and to be very easy to communicate with and would absolutely do business with him again.
cheers! mike

I agree with everything Mike said. The product does exactly as advertised. Peak HP is minimal, but the torque is what you really feel, making in town driving much more enjoyable. Mine came in dialed at 60%, I will increase to 70% to see how much more of a difference it makes. As with the JB+ and JDB for the BMW applications, running at 100% may throw an overboost code so it is only wise to run at 100% if you have other modified hardware (exhaust, intake, etc...) to support the increased boost.
Mike, do you currently have it set at 75% for your daily driving?

I couldn't stand to hear all of you talking about it so I went ahead and ordered one. I'm concerned about throwing codes if I run it at 100% but I really would like to try it when it arrives.

Igor, I personally would not run at 100% at risk of damaging something. We dont have FMIC, or upgraded 3inch exhaust and other hardware upgrades to probably support it. I get a CEL at WOT if I don't let the car warm up, also the car goes into limp-mode. So please make sure your car has warmed up before driving hard. It goes away after turning the car off for about 10mins. This might just be my car...
If BMS set the dial at 50-60% then there must be a reason. I am going to turn mine up to about 75-80% and see how much of a difference there is...
I wish someone could chime in on how 70-85% feels compared to the stock setting.

Hi all,
Yeah i've been running it at 100% and got very occasional cutting of power but no codes thrown. I went back to about 80% and do that daily now. The lower end is a bit better than at the factory setting. Interestingly I just found out I am deploying to Afghanistan so unfortunately the JB+ is coming off and the car is being turned in on the lease early. Looks like in 12 months i'll be ordering another mercedes all over again. I'm hoping I can order one while gone and have it waiting for me when i'm back.
cheers! mike

I just got my JB+ and since I didn't see the dial for performance output I e-mailed Terry and this was his reply.
So uh... What should I do?
ME: So I just received my JB+ some people on the forums are saying how theres a dial to modulate the power output on the device. I don't see it nor do I see anything in the installation instructions. Can you please explain that part.
Also they mentioned how the dial shouldn't be set to 100% due to the possibility of throwing a CEL. I'd like to know about that too.
Terry: I'll add that to the directions soon. For now, leave it as we set it. Around 65%.
Best,
T

^I meant based on his suggestion. I opened it up and set it to about 75%.
Firstly, the installation is not that simple, the MAP sensor was stuck on so hard that I cut thumb completely open trying to pry it off. <-can't do this anymore.
Secondly, after installation I did notice that the car idle's a little louder at startup. In the first 10 seconds driving you notice the car is much more loose, and less restricted. Immediately after putting your foot down you feel the increase in power. This is not as subtle of a difference as other people are describing. Also lastly, you do have a more audible boost sound at 2,000+ RPM.
I'm looking forward to having a lot more time with this mod and seeing the potential and especially stage 2.

Can someone comment on the MPG with this chip installed. I'm curious to know the difference in regular driving (commuting)...better, worse, the same? Can anyone provide any figures?

Under wide open throttle the fueling showed a richer mixture than stock according the the sniffer used in Terry's dyno. This should show decreased fuel economy under wide open throttle. It's important to note, however, that most will never drive under wide upon throttle very often and when you are driving under wide open throttle you will not be concerned about fuel economy. Under WOT you'll be at 7mpg or so OEM anyways so the difference between 6 and 7mpg is nothing. Under city driving I havent seen anyone log any differences and there may not be much. Likely no one would be able to accurately measure the small differences.

So I got a little update. The car is definitely pulling a little harder off the line, the torque is the biggest difference in power. I'm enjoying the increase in power. IMO everyone with a 250 should get this, its probably the best mod for a tiny amt of money. Next up, I'm definitely going to get the intake that Terry@BMS is working on, granted that it has to show some gains or a little upgrade in throttle response first.

Idk where I would go to film a 0-60 clip. I can't drive while filming myself. I don't know if the change is going to be so dramatic that you're gonna notice it in a video; 20hp and 40tq its not like were adding a supercharger.

for those that are have the tune or interested should sign up at the n54tech.com forum.. there's a subsection for the the c250.. and terry posts all his stuff there
the 60%-100% dial is a 2.5psi difference.. the tune at 60% turns up the peak boost to about 21psi vs 16psi stock and then tapers down to 12psi as the revs go up
question is how many psi can the engine take? i run mine at the 60% min setting as there's no need to squeeze every last bit out of the tiny turbo and risk the engine.. it's just a daily driver after all

PS: I read your post about the intake, I too hope its sub $100, considering we've all spend $300 on the tune so far, it will keep it at a really good value.

FWIW I ran a 0-60 test using Dynolicious with the JB+ at 65%. The app is pretty accurate in my opinion, I've used it on other cars and it's spot on.
