New C Class Spotted
These spy pics show what may be the new C Class fully exposed.
Besides renderings etc. that's the first I've seen of an actual real vehicle in the metal, will be interesting to see the final product and especially what the new C Class Coupe will be all about

Doesn't look bad at all, but is definitely a cross between the CLA and E-Class. I don't know how I feel about that. One thing I've always enjoyed about Mercedes that separated it from BMW and Audi is that the cars looked different. With the other two brands, they all look the same or variations thereof, but Mercedes all looked different. We'll see what happens.

Those are some prices in AU
Even though that link doesnt work I browsed other cars and I cannot believe the prices you guys pay in Australia for cars. But you do have a better selection. I am curious to know if these cars are really overpriced.
Can someone tell me what is the min wage per hour is? In the usa it runs from $7.25 per hr to maybe $9.00 per hr.
My job in the usa as an IT professional (application project mgr) is 125k at a bank. What would be an estimate for this position in AU. If my job is close to 200k then maybe the cars in AU are priced comparable to a usa model.

This has come up in other threads, forums etc. and it's always quite amusing whenever I read about U.S folk complaining about what they pay for their cars, parts etc. etc. we pay on average 2 to 3 times as much for the identical vehicle (not to mention ongoing running and living costs here) and our $AUD is at average on par as the $USD, it's much the same story with alot of other Countries ie. U.S pricing is so cheap by comparison, I suppose the U.S is land of financial opportunity as they say
Here in Australia, the main reason for car pricing is import taxes, Euro 'luxury' brands such as BMW, Audi, MB etc. incur a hefty luxury car tax on them for obvious Government profit and also to protect the local car manufacturing industry, otherwise most people here would rather be driving the better high end imported cars.

The aussie dollar is actually now higher than the US dollar.
I run a business arm within a large software company in New Zealand. The position you describe "IT professional (application project mgr) is 125k at a bank" seems to be at par with what we would pay here i.e. for a similar position we'd pay $135-$145k NZD while the a C250 here costs about $97k with the AMG sports plus pack.

Yes that's right and its only a recent and first ever development since the $USD went belly up due to the GFC crisis.
Before that the $AUD rarely rose above 80 cents in the dollar and averaged 60 cents in the dollar in comparison with the $USD.
I remember when I was in Hawaii back in 1993, the exchange rate was down to 53 cents against the green back
And even back then as is the case now the difference in car prices from the U.S to Aust. was just as pronounced, ie. mega expensive here, dirt cheap in the U.S. oh well that's just the way it is
Just for reference my C250-CDI fully loaded with options and some other extra goodies from MB cost over 100k $AUD.

100k wow what a shame!! If I were there I would be driving an Alfa I do miss them. My 2012 C350 with everything plus the $2300 red leather option was just under 48k.
I remember back in the early 90s some distant family came to visit and they filled their suitcases with Marlboro's because they were $4.50 a pack in AU. Right now in Charlotte, North Carolina I can get a whole carton for $48. If you smoke what are you paying for a pack of Marlboros?

Basic driveaway cost for a C250 here is around 75-80k all options added around 105k
I end up getting an excellent discount on mine, however with everything else I've since added and getting done its knocked the o/all price back up to over 100k - no regrets I love it and have exactly what I want in a C Class Coupe and it's not the first or the last expensive car I've purchased either, Iplan on getting an A Class AMG in the next 2 or 3 years but still keeping the C250-CDI as well
