C250 Straight Pipes
Hello everyone,
I currently have the Burger Motorsports "Mercedes Benz C250 JB+" and "BMS C250 Performance Intake". I have a resonator and muffler delete. Some say that a vehicle must be tuned in order to have straight pipes. However with these two mods I believe that it should be enough to handle it. If I were to remove my cat, how would the car perform? I do not care about loudness, the louder the better. My concern would be the performance with the two mods I stated.

Since you have your mufflers deleted, don't you lose the needed back pressure? On a c300, you would lose low end torque and gain high end horsepower. When i put in magnaflow performance mufflers, i felt a big power difference (butt dyno), as compared to when i did a muffler delete and straight pipes.

Now im planning to change the setup. I want to put 100cell cats at downpipes, we'll see the result.
So, if you want to make your car louder n still get the power, im suggesting remove the resonator, but replace the original muffler with aftermarket. So you dont lose the back pressure.

^^^ Don't worry it's still early days for this particular MB engine, there'll be lots more mod potential down the track.
Taking into account that the same engine is employed in other higher volume MB models eg. new A Class, then tuners will definitely devote R&D towards it because there'll be a market for them

Yep, its true. But im suggesting dont remove the cats. I already done that with my setup now. I changed the downpipe (remove cats), quad exhaust setup, jb beta n jb intake. Lose the low end torque.

I have straight pipe (catback) and did not install aftermarket muffler because it would quiet down the sound.
Btw, do you have a video clip of your catless setup? Also, please keep us updated on your new setup. I'm considering removing my cats.....

Do you have anything to back up this statement or is it just your theory?

I dont record the sound for straight pipe setup cause i dont like the result. I only use 2days with the straight pipe setup and i change it. I will update if i already get my 100cell cats n install.

Its not just my theory, but from my experience. I already try the straight pipe setup (no resonator n muffler) and the result lose the low torque. Now i use custom muffler n custom resonator. And i make it quad exhaust setup.

For me, i went from x pipe and no mufflers (straight pipe) to x pipe and magnaflow performance mufflers. I felt the difference in low end torque! And its alot quieter. Still loud but a deeper kind of loud. Not a ricer sound
