Help

Bought new wheels 8.5/19 all round and fitted 255/35 tyres but guess what front ones rub against sups strut so no good so id like to pick the brains of anyone who has the above size wheel fitted to the front of their c204 and what size tyre they used, i want to avoid the 'balloon' effect of a small width tyre which looks as though the rim to too wide for it and leaves the edge of the rim exposed yuk so help is needed asap

Thanks
Norman

Perhaps wheel spacers? Just a thought

255 wide tyres up front is definitely too big for this vehicle to begin with.

What are the offsets of the rims ?? I'm guessing they're close OEM or even a higher ET number compared to OEM which is good for outside face fitment, but that's also why they'd be hitting the suspension on the inside face with such a wide tyre there.

Try dropping down to a 235 tyre or if you have room left on the front face and want a quick fix you may have to use spacers.

Just be aware though as I don't know where your from, but in some Countries wheel spacers are illegal and can cause failure problems to some of the other components associated with the wheel hub/s, hence why they're banned.

235/35 would be the ideal front tyre size for 19's on this vehicle but in combination with an 8" max. width rim with correct offset.

In your case though with the 8.5" wide rim with 45 ET the 235 will have to do, a 225 would be even better for clearance but will be too narrow for your 8.5" rim and give a stretched tyre fitment.

Hope all goes well with the 235's

~ i am running a 235/45/19 on the front with a 45mm offset & 8.5 width = no rubbing even lowered (eibach pro-kit). the issue could be due to the incorrect offset or the tire size.
