Meisterschaft question

Hey guys,
Just had a few questions regarding an exhaust mod. Im looking into the meisterschaft touring/racing exhaust kits.

1) Is this upgrade worth the 2-3k in your opinion?
2) Would the touring or racing option be better? I read the touring one is slightly quieter and maybe less drone?
3) 63 vs 65 tips. The 65 tips are 500$ more and im not really too sure what the differences are.

4) other options?

Thanks for the input

I've been asking myself the same question for the past 4 months. I'd also want to stay just dual exhaust (I'm of the belief that a quad need to be on a V8).

Honestly I can't justify that for an exhaust system since I don't usually keep my cars too long. I'd pay about $1K+/- or so, but $2500 is too much IMO.

To answer your questions though...

1) Is this upgrade worth the 2-3k in your opinion? IMO, No
2) Would the touring or racing option be better? I read the touring one is slightly quieter and maybe less drone? Touring if I was going to do it
3) 63 vs 65 tips. The 65 tips are 500$ more and im not really too sure what the differences are. 63 tips are quad (separated) & the 65 tips are quad, but connected together. There are pics on their site

4) other options? Xpipe. Most have achieved the sound they are looking for by adding an x pipe for $200-$300. You could always add quad tips to your current system if that's what you're trying to achieve.

Thanks for your input. I kinda agree that 2-3k is too much for this kinda upgrade. I see the differences in aesthetics on the two tips, but is there a difference in sound? If the look is the only difference, i dont see why I would spend another 500. I already have an xpipe installed, just looking for a little more grumble. Can barely hear my downshifts. Maybe i should save the $ and try to find a used c63 in a year or so?

I have the meisterschaft gt racing exhaust with the 65 tips (connected ovals) on my C350C. Its a pretty nice exhaust, very expensive though. I got them 2 years ago before they increased the price to what it is now. It stands out when you see other w204 with quad tips. I get complements on the sound and looks all the time. When I ordered it apparently according to gthaus, no one really buys the HP/touring version, so they just carry the GT/racing version.

Here is a video of my exhaust sound with the meisterschaft exhaust and the resonator replaced with an xpipe:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for taking the time to post your opinions. The clip sounds great, but I just dont know if I can justify a 2500$ mod when theres a chance Im gonna trade mine in a year or two. Is there a difference in sound between the s63 and s65 tips or is it purely cosmetic?

Where in SO cal are you? Maybe you could let me sit in for a ride to see how it really sounds :-)

Ok, after hearing that, I'd go for the racing version

That's the best audio I've heard on the net of that system. Thanks for posting lookinbarrel.

OP, there's another company in Germany (site says LA also, but I haven't researched it) called MEC Design http://www.mecdesign.de/new/en/index.php
price sheet is in Euros... translates to about $1500 or so. Could be an option. Plenty of sound clips on their site.

Both the Touring and Race Versions are the same price. $2000 for the 63 tips and $2500 for the 65 tips. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I can save you a few hundred dollars.

Thanks for the input guys. Still not sure where I stand on this.
The question I had about touring v racing was is there an audible sound difference between the s63 and 65 tips or is the only difference the way they are shaped?

Im looking into MEC but they dont have any sound clips for a w204 c350. only a c63 and c250

It's on their site here: http://www.mecdesign.de/new/en/tunin...stems_w204.php

Scroll down to 6 Cylinder - C230+C280+C300+C320CDI+C350
Click on the Earthquake sound clip. Sounds nice... I'm torn now, so I'm waiting a bit before I pull the trigger. Despite the fact I'm not looking for quad tips

I've been going back and forth with an employee in Germany. They sent me a quote yesterday and can sell me that exhaust, with a diffuser (including shipping) for $1800 USD. You can get more info by filling out the Contact Us tab.

To answer your other question, as far as I know it's just the tip shape. Tips don't change the soundtrack.

Thanks for the link. The earthquake clip sounded pretty good, the other one,not so much lol. I really would like a nicer exhaust sound though. Tough decision.

I believe its mostly cosmetic. Its the muffler that makes the sound not the tips.

I'm in the San Gabriel Valley area. You're welcome to have a ride along in my car to hear how it sounds. But currently I am out of town and won't be back for a while.

I have the touring and love it. Just the tiniest (very small) hint of drone. I wouldn't get the race one I think it'd be too loud.

Sound is excellent. You only want big noise when you're on it anyway, not when you're cruising at 60...

IMHO from what you say above re. the cost is a valid point, ie. if your not going to own the car long term then no need to get one of the best exhaust systems money can buy, just opt for something 'decent' and then return it to stock when you sell the car without much loss.

On the other hand if you were going to own the car long term I would definitely recommend a high end system it's worth every cent, that's what I've done with mine and have a full Super Sprint system.

Tips are definitely cosmetic only and do not affect the sound.

So after researching a little more, I think Eisenmann might give me more of the sound im looking for. Does anyone have any opinions on their exhaust systems?

Subjective question... You're still in the hunt for a system huh? Have you heard anything in person yet or are you just basing this off online videos?

I just ordered my meisterschaft today, so I'll give you my opinion on that in a few weeks. I'll be running just the rear boxes though; leaving the resonator in.

I have xpipe and wondered if touring or racing would fit me better. It's a DD so don't want drone but want a more agressive sound than it is currently. How much are you guys paying for your systems as well?

Can't say what would work best for you. I've don't have an Xpipe and bought the racing version; it's loud enough for me. As for price.... Depending on your tip selection; between $1500 and $2000 plus shipping and install. PM or call some of the sponsors for best pricing.

Good luck!

Just installed my Meisterschaft GT Racing Exhaust......Not as much growl as I would like, but still better than factory. I will try and upload a sound clip within the next few days....

Looks good! Give it some time to break in and see what you think.

I agree though, not a growl, but more of a "tuned" exhaust sound. I didn't remove my resonator, so your's should be a little louder than mine. Gotta remember it's not going to sound like a V8
Looking forward to hearing your clip!

Might want to tell people where you're at since it's not in your signature.
