I have 2012 Mecedes C250 Coupe and today I realized one plastic part in engine is half broken both side(up and down) and does anyone knows what is that part and does it make any problem if I will not change? It is on the passanger side of the car up front. any info about it?
That's part of the air intake tube going from the airbox to turbo. You have to replace the whole pipe, it's molded as part of it. They break all the time. There aren't really any adverse effects, but it allows the engine to pull in air after the air filter, which can be contaminated. That pipe is part of the PCV system where it returns oil vapors back into the engine, so you will usually see oil leaking around it.
I have a good used one if you need, the new ones aren't too expensive though, should be under $300.
Hey there! Glad I checked out the forum for the coupes too. I have a sedan but also had this problem. Went to the dealer and said this is not covered under warranty.
An easy and perfect fix is to simply use plumbers tape to make the air seals right.
