Looking at a 2013 C250 with 60k miles. things to know?

Never owned a mercedes but I think this is exactly the car I'm looking for. Coupe, 60k miles, dealership has it for ~13,500, seems like it's in great condition.

Is there anything I should know about these cars? Anything in particular that commonly fails or something like that? I couldn't find any general thread that could answer that question.

Secondary question, I've noticed some C250's have projector headlights and others don't. Is this something I can upgrade to without much trouble?

Thanks! Noticed your profile says you have a '13 C250 as well, and your picture shows projector headlights. Are those aftermarket, or stock for another model that happens to fit the C250? I'd love to get away from these ancient-looking headlights and get some projectors. My last car had them so this feels a little bit like a downgrade.

I have the factory Intelligent Light System [621] (Bi-Xenon headlamps, Active Light System, variable light distribution, headlamp cleaning system and dynamic headlight beam control). There are other threads in this forum discussing options for changing headlights. They may be of interest to you.

I hope it had recent service done because there are some expensive things at 60K miles to do. GL!

Thanks! Worst case I did opt for their 2 year powertrain thing. Out of warranty from mercedes and bought this at a toyota dealership (weird I know) so hoping nothing too crazy. What kind of expensive things? Only odd thing I can tell just by driving it is it has some slight road noise. almost like wheel bearings are getting a little old. I could just be looking for problems that aren't there though. Car seems to drive perfectly otherwise.

Plugs and brake flush, oil change are a few things that come to mind at the 60K interval.

Mercedes C250 Coupe
C250 Coupe..............

Welcome. C250 coupe - ours is Iridium/Ash- was CPO purchase at 21k on the odometer. It's my wife's car. I really don't drive it very often. It's a beautiful little coupe - just not me. i feel like I'm impersonating some wealthy old dude.

We've had it since the summer of 2014. Amazingly, there have been zero issues since purchase. Not one.

I did drive it to Monterey to celebrate my wife's birthday shortly after purchase. IIRC, I calc'd about 35 MPG for the 400+ mile round trip.

Again, velcome to the forum.

best, ez

Grats!

i just bought one at the same mileage. Within 3 days I had the high pressure fuel pump fail. Fortunately the dealership I purchased The vehicle from replaced the pump which is a $1,200.00 repair. This is a common failure with the C250 which is evident when the vehicle limps after hard acceleration and corresponding CEL.

Check your spark plugs for oil and if there’s oil you need to change your valve cover and plug seals ( I did )

Another common failure is the intake tube mini tube. It can become brittle and crack resulting in a P0002 code. Mercedes wanted $890 to change the entire intake tube as the mini tube is not a serviceable part. I got one off amazon for $25 and swapped it in 30 seconds.

Im not sure If the ESL has been redesigned on the 13 c250 model but it is a sore spot. It failed on my C300 and was extremely inconvenient. There’s a plethora of information on the forums but keep this on your radar.

Another BIG problem is the cam adjuster and timing chain issue. Again there’s plenty of information here on the forum regarding this expensive repair.

Check out Flexx Alexander’s YouTube channel as the majority of his content covers the C250.

fun car and great choice on the color
