Change engine temp gauge from C to F?

Car was manufactured in Germany. My A/C and outside temps are in F, but the engine temp on the dash is in C. How do I go from C to F?

Of course, you are right. I have gone through the manual several times looking for the answer, but i guess I just must have missed it. Perhaps, you could clue me in?

And, maybe, you could help me here (where again I have done Google searches and forum searches): I'm in C drive and decide to use the paddle shifters. I have noted that green numbers (like 15, 16, 17) appear just to the right of the "M" that indicates I'm in manual. They seems to count down. Perhaps, they are some kind of time indicator???

One issue solved, another still working. Today, I finally had a chance to look carefully at those green numbers. And, as I had been informed in another forum, what I thought were numbers like 15 and 16 next to M4 and M5, were not perceived correctly due to my far-sightness. But, today, on closer examination...Yeah, the "1s" were really arrows indicating the next shift.

From what I can tell, the coolant temperature gauge is only in Celsius, and doesn't look like it's a field on the instrument cluster that's adjustable -- the gauge segments simply light up. Pages 34 and 201 of the manual don't say anything about changing the setting, only saying "if the coolant temperature is over 248F (120C), do not continue driving. The engine will otherwise be damaged."

I had this same thought, and dismissed it as no big deal. To me, any change would just be semantics. It's the position of the gauge that matters, and if it reaches the higher end, there's a problem.

Yeah, I was hoping that I could change it to F, but I guess not. As you have said: "No big deal."

I wanted to do the same thing on my GLC. However, the folks that have been driving M-Bs for years advised the coolant temp gauge has always been in C and cannot be changed to F.

So with about 5,000 miles on the vehicle it appears the normal temp is one segment past the half way mark...don't have a clue what temp this represents but assuming this is normal as that is where its always at.

Agreed. No big deal, although not very precise.
