Two Year Lease Review - 2019 C300 Coupe
Huge MB fan and big fan of this forum. I wanted to share my honest medium-term review of the 2019 C300 coupe, one I have been fortunate to lease for the past couple of years.
I custom ordered my C300 at a nearby dealership in early fall of 2018, and it arrived a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving. Brilliant Blue exterior and Magma Grey MB-tex interior w/ Grey Oak trim, AMG styling kit, 19" multispoke wheels. Essentially fully loaded with the exception of a couple of options (like the MB-tex for example).
Aesthetics: It's absolutely gorgeous and easily the most beautiful Mercedes I've leased/owned. Get compliments and looks everywhere I go. I still look back when I park it often. The Brilliant Blue and 19" multispoke combo is just fantastic. This is the area where the car delivers every single day. Interior wise I probably would have chosen a lighter color for more contrast, but stuck with MB-tex as I frequently have dogs in the car. Either way, the thing is gorgeous inside and out. 10/10.
Engine: This is easily the most fun turbo-charged four-cylinder engine I've ever driven. I switch it to Sport religiously every single time I start the car, as it's a much better driving experience in my opinion. Comfort is too slow off the line, and reminiscent of the performance of the W204 turbo four, which had some pretty excessive lag. Easy to crank it on side roads and the highway. The noise isn't that satisfying, but it's a four cylinder so you shouldn't expect that anyway. 8/10
Ride and Handling: The ride is solid and generally smooth. It's very smooth compared to the C43 AMG, for example, which I had as a fun loaner for a few days. That thing had an abysmal ride - again it depends on what you're looking for as it was much faster and more sporty. I've always looked for a balance between ride and smoothness in MB, and the C300 hits that note right. The handling is capable enough to feel agile, but definitely not creeping into sports car territory. It's a good deal more agile than my old base 2016 E350, but not by a mile. 7/10
Overall Build Quality: This is where the C300 falls short. It's death by a thousand little annoying cuts with my beautiful C300. The interior creaks like an old wooden ship when making turns, for example. After multiple trips to the dealer after first taking delivery, zero mitigation or resolution on any noises. Every other MB I've ever owned has been rock solid in this department. (2009 CLK350, 2012 C250, 2012 SLK350, 2016 E350 are some examples of rock solid builds I've had.) The car whines loudly when applying the brakes in reverse outside of the garage every single morning. The Bluetooth port that connects the iPhone to CarPlay is extremely sensitive and disconnects easily, rendering that feature borderline useless. It takes probably a full minute after turning the car on for the entertainment system to be able to be controlled correctly, as it slowly connects to Bluetooth by default, struggles to download/update the SiriusXM channels constantly, etc. On build quality I'd give it a 5/10, but I'll give it a 6/10 because the important stuff - brakes, engine, drivetrain - all seem to mostly function without major problems.
Overall - the car gets a 7.75 for me as an average of these categories, which seems accurate to me. Curious to hear other experiences with this model, or like models.

Nice review. Honestly that was pretty spot on. How did you ever go from a SLK350 to this? World of difference.
Thanks for your review, i enjoyed reading it

I would agree with your overall take on it. Bluetooth is super slow to connect everytime (so annoying). Burmester sound system is GREAT! I have not had issues with creaking and noises. My issues have been with the tires. Replaced all 4 tires after just 12 months, car was some how out of alignment. Car didn't even have 15k miles on it and needed new tires. Have also had a rim bent, dealership repaired rim to brand new for a couple hundred bucks.
Other issue was with the Live Traffic and in car wifi. Never got that to work despite taking it in several times. Seemed like when the refresh came out in 2019 they didn't know how to work it.
No issues with major components like you said, but I am always wondering if this thing will begin to cost me boatloads of money down the road. Overall really enjoy the car, its fun to drive, sporty, and a good looking car. Just worry about the tires. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on yours. Are you keeping the car long term of just through end of lease?

I'd agree with you on all points bar build quality as mine has been absolutely flawless in that regard. It has no creaks or rattles at any point, it's a nice quiet and comfy place to be. The infotainment I agree is pretty bad, even though I have the upgraded facelift system. That said, the digital dash is superb both in design and the screen quality - far nicer than any other I've seen.
I've got my car for at least another year (company car) and will look to be switching the new Estate purely for putting my bike in!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
turbo ?
clogged air filter, dirty mass air flow sensor (MAF), clogged fuel filter, fuel pump malfunction, faulty oxygen sensor, dirty throttle body, worn spark plugs and clogged catalytic converter. Less common causes are faulty throttle position sensor (TPS), bad ignition coils, dirty fuel injectors, clogged engine oil filter, transmission problem, worn piston rings and blown head gasket.>??
