'97 C280 Sport
I am seriously considering purchasing a C280 Sport. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, but from what I see it looks flawless. 96k miles.
I want to know what makes the Sport model different from the normal C280 and if there is anything I should look out for in particular. Also, should I be concerned at all with that mileage? I know it's built like a tank but that doesn't mean it won't need repairs. Thanks

I have 97 C280 regular model and I heard from other C280 owners that the only difference is the body kits, rims and maybe a cup holder.
if you at them both, the regular C280 has smoother lines and looks better when you drop it. the Sport has those fins and ,make the car look cheap.

The springs are stiffer, the shocks are stiffer, the sway bars are larger diameter and solid instead of hollow, the wheels are 16 x 7 instead of 15 x 6.5, the seats have much more side bolstering, the steering wheel is smaller in diameter, the wood interior trim is replaced by fake carbon fiber, the door handles and other exterior trim is matte black. The early W202 Sports also had a quicker steering ratio. I have a 1995 non-Sport and a 2000 Special Edition (which includes the Sport Package). There is quite a bit of difference between the cars in terms of ride and handling. I also think the sport seats are more comfortable.

Thanks for the information. I didn't think the differences were too major but I wanted to just check. Ill finally be going to test drive it tomorrow.
Any opinions on a fair price? They are asking 9k

Whatever it is, I would definitely check the pricing guides because $9k is too much to pay for a 97 280 with 96k on the odometer. http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/used/mercedesbenz/index.html

I checked edmunds and put in all the options, etc.. and it came out to $8100. I got the car for $8500 and I think it was pretty fair as there are no cheaper comparable C280's in the market around here. I should be picking it up sometime this week. Hopefully I won't have any horror stories to tell, not for a good while anyway.

1997 C280 AUTO SPORTS AMG ESTATE
![Thumbs up](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif)
I got a C280 auto sports AMG last March 07 it had 68k on the clock but no service history to back up the mileage I paid £4200 for it. To be honest it's a greta classic motor it drives great looks superb and is a real tank.
Apart from changing the parking break switch I have no trouble with it at all. If you get the chance to buy one get it done and you wont regret it.

1999 C280 Sport
I bought a 99C280 Sport last year from my exwife. She gave it to me for what the trade in was going to be for her Infinity G35. I think the dealer was trying to stiff her, he offered her $2500 as a trade. Car had 85k and all service records to back it up. Her older Brother won the car in a raffle in 99 and gave her the car as a B'day present.Recently had it repainted and all the rust removed. I guess the L&R frt doors rust at the mldgs.
