Removing governor (w202)
So i've upgraded my tires to Bridgestone's Potenza RE960 Pole Positions...W rated (much more than the car can muster anyway). I'm guessing the car could go 143 or 144, and i'd like the governor removed (the H rated tires are rated for a consistent speed of 130...hence governor at 133).
Will the dealership remove the governor if I ask? I'm in a small city, and the dealership's service dept knows me personally (and every other customer..)

I doubt a dealer would do this (and I am not sure the Star system can even do it) just because of the liability issue. Mercedes is very liability wary.
You ought took investigate the chip tuning companies. They may offer chip modifications that will take off the limiter.

dealer WILL NOT remove governor for you no matter how well u know them...
if u r in small town, just mail the ECU to the tuner and have them tune it which will also remove speed limiter...

If it doesn't change how your car looks or sounds, that isn't going to be ricey in my opinion. To me, ricey is when people put crap on their car that is wanna-be (all show but no go). Except for a Type R sticker, of course. That is OK because we all know that sticker adds 14.5 hp to any car when it is applied... ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
You can see a few vidoes on YouTube where the limter doesn't kick in at 133 so I don't think it is that precise. I am just curious why you want to go to all of this trouble just to go a few miles an hour faster. Also, are you sure you have someplace where you can do this and not put an innocent person at risk?

Faster does not mean more dangerous. It is usually quite the opposite when speed limits are adjusted.

Isn't it clear that all he wants to do is track his C230 on closed circuits on weekends and holidays, like a true driving enthusiast. Anything else would just be stoopid . . .
