exhaust
Should I go with the lorinser exhaust for $1000 plus for my C280 or go with something else like a supersprint or something for $500 or less? I do plan on getting the lorinser body kit in the future so I was thinking all out lorinser. The thing about is I will be paying more than twice the amount.

Try Sebring!!! i've got one on my C280 and it sounds deep and not as expensive as Brabus or others. but it's the OEM of Brabus indeed!!!
compare with the original muffler, besides the sound, U can easily feel the engine is more vivid. about the hp, i think it doen't increase that much but the power curve of the engine has changed.
low torque doesn't lost but the high-end is better, willing to climb fast!!!
before i use Sebring for my C280, my Bimmer got one also. really impressive

by the way, i'm using the K&N drop in filter and it fits my C280 also. with the Sebring exhaust and the filter, feels that the gas pedal is more responding and better "kick down"!!!
but some of my friends said the K&N 57i is better but some said it'll drop the torque of the low rpm and increase the fuel consumption especially in "stop and go" traffic. any comment??

Im at the edge of getting the high performance customized eisenmann exhaust from eisenhaus.com which will cost me around 600 bucks w/ s&h. Any suggestion regarding that? And aroppi is it possible that u could attach a wav file or somethin with the engine reving so i know how the sebring ones sound like on ur c280. I want deep and powerful sound...nothin truck...or rice...if u know what i meant...

With the high compression of the C280 engine, you could just cut the muffler off and get a good sound. It's not a 4 cylinder so it won't sound like a weedeater and it's not a V8 so it won't sound like a truck. Any exhaust will sound very good and much the same as others.

okay.. doug says any exhaust sounds good however I read a post where TP said an eisenmann exahust was loud.. is this true? I dont want a too loud exhaust, I am looking for something smoothe.. you know to match mercedes nothing raspy. I am looking into remus as suggested and supersprint so far cuz those have been the ones that I have found to be praised by enthusiasts

rbus's c280 is hooked up wit a high performance eisenmann muffler. But its a bit too loud for my taste... maybe cuz of the cat-back and custom piping? Im really curious what the racing one would sound like on a c280... Anyhow it cost around 600 bux just for the muffler is it reasonable?

according to my limited knowlege, if U cut the
"cat" and mod it to a free flow, or using those loud voice "Group N" muffler, it'll make your car slow SO much when it's in low to mid rpm but it'll be great when U keep your engine's rpm high. that means poor pick up but higher max. speed!!! it's because of the lost of back pressure.
not so practical for daily use indeed.
using a not so restrictive muffler is good provided that the overall torque curves suit your driving style.
some of my friends use Brabus muffler. it sounds GOOD and the torque curve is good also but... the price... not so good ;P
one more thing, that is the weight of the original VS mod one. mostly the mod one is lighter coz' it's made of stainless steel!!?

i got the Lorinser exhaust on my car.. cost a arm and a leg.. but i like it.. i like the way it looks and sounds.. not too loud, when cruising u can barely hear it.. but when u go WOT.. it emmits a nice deep throaty sound to it... when i got the exhaust one year ago.. i noticed better throttle response.. now im just use to it.. i was looking at remus, SS, brabus, renntech, etc.. i ended up getting the Lorinser.. very happy with my choice

The one's on ebay are actually pretty nice and made better than a lot of your 600 dollar mufflers. Look for polished steel and machine welds. The crimped aluminum mufflers just don't compare when it comes to durability and quality in craftsmanship. The horsepower on them will all be about the same. There are only so many ways to make a free flowing muffler. The only thing that I don't know about the one's on Ebay is the sound. I don't know how much fiberglass is in them so I couldn't tell you. If there isn't a lot of fiberglass in it you will hear a lot of resonnance coming into the cabin. If it is too loud, you can always do what I did and just add a glasspack. If you get one in on Ebay and don't like it, you're only out 40 bucks, so just sell it back.

Just out of curiosity, what's a good muffler to buy if I just want the look of chrome tips, kinda like the ones on the C43? Don't get me wrong, I don't want a rice muffler, I want small, low profile chrome accents on my tips. No sound change would even be fine with me. I just think it's kinda funny looking that my C 280 has all this chrome and then you get to the back and there's a rather ugly looking muffler.
