top speed and gas mileage

Mine is only a C180, the original top speed is only 195km/h ? I remember I read somewhere.. With my air filter replaced with GreenFilter, I could hit 210km/h last week, with 195/65/R15 tyre.

Fuel consumption wise, I normally get a combined mileage of 350 miles for a full tank to the fuel light goes on.

Are all the above normal, what about yours ?

Oh yah, at 210km/h. it's about 131mph, I think I can't ask anymore from a C180. Just that the low-end torque is not there

My '95 C 280 will go to 130 MPH before the governor kicks in. I've taken it to about 120MPH and that's about it. My gas mileage is about 19-22 MPG and it comes out to about 310 before the gas light goes on and I can push it to around 330. But this is all in town. On the highway it's damn near 380.

Hmmmm....maybe so. Cause I don't see how I can pull 320 and you only get 250.

I've gone about 122 mph. Still had a little juice left in it. 95 C220. Highway range, cruising at around 70-75 mph is a little north of 520 miles. I don't drive like a maniac anymore, though. City, I get around 20 mpg.

Wow, 520 miles per tank is damn GOOD !! I cannot imagine that happen to my car, I will be paying the fuel for a 1,000cc car then.

Also, on highway, I just could not resist to push a little faster on and off or else I would be sleeping (I mean on long journey).

I also noted that MB could not do beyond 6,000rpm isn't it ? Honda car with VTEC can be pushed to 9,00rpm !!

Yup. Have done NYC-Maine without filling up. Once you accelerate up to speed, if you hold speed relatively constant, the car really doesn't use a whole lot of gas on the highway-- roughly 29-30 mpg highway, about 18-18.5 gallons in the tank, makes for a long cruising distance- great road trip car.

Also got a slight mpg improvement when I switched from 15W50 to 10W40 synthetic. (I don't rev my engine *nearly* high enough to warrant 15W50.)

Oh, I noted your gas tank is larger than mine

Usually I could pump about 12.5 gallon per full tank. Or put in another word, I normally get a combined 28.4mpg.

What you mean? Which is better to use for aggressive and which is better for cruising? Also, I heard that using synthetic oil is bad and is not recommended by MB?

I wouldn't say that. Just saw the ad in Road and Track for Mobile 1 that says endorsed by MB.

If you treat your engine harshly or drive at high RPMs on a regular basis, higher viscosities may be better-- i.e., 15W50. I keep my engine sub 3000 around town- usually sub 2000, and around 3500 on the highway without a lot of sudden acceleration. Synthetic is fine, i've used it for the last 20,000 miles without a hitch.

I think the oil I use right now is 5W40 - I've used fully synthetic oil for the last 70.000km and wouldn't consider something of less quality simply because the engine is "used" to it...

Post Top Speed, fuel consumption, and Oil.

I live in a very congested city, in a very hot and humid climate. Mobile 1 synthetic is what I use. (Specifically 5w-50) Mobile is recommended on all AMG cars as far as I know. I don't get very good mileage on my car due to the traffic and my heavy right foot. I get about 300 kilometers (about 187 miles) per tank of gas. But at least the gas in the country I live in is cheap for 95 octane per U.S. gallon ($ 1.48)! My car has 170 horse power from 2.4 liter V-6 with stock paper filter. It's top speed with the original Dunlop tires (195/65-15) and wheels was 214 km/h (about 133 mph). But with my 18x8.5 inch wheels (Brabus type IV) and my H&R cup kit (which lowered my car 2.0 inches in the front and 1.7 in the rear) the car's top speed went up nearly 220 km/h!!!

My brother's 3-series (E46) BMW (specifically 323i, 184 horse power, inline six engine) had an original top speed of 223 km/h with 205/55R-16's (Bridgestone, Terranza's). But he has a K&N air filter which produces more horse power from stock output which results in a higher top speed of 228 km/h.

The speed limit in the country I live is home free. Go as fast as you want, just don't get into an accident.. I regularly go 160-200 km/h daily (100+ mph) on the expressways. It's the only way to feel free and get over my daily stress and frustration of traffic on local city roads. It's my kind of therapy with safety in mind!!!

to be honest i havent really checked my fuel economy

the sticker thats next to my gas cap says i get 23/30 something city/highway

top speed is electronically set at 150, but ive never actually taken my vehicle beyond 100mph.

i always use chevon gas with techron (already in the mixture and helps clean out stuff) 93 octane premium and its currently at around 1.70 for 9/10th a gallon.

I've gone 110mph, passing a line of truckers on the highway. Didn't realize I was going that fast until I looked at the speedometer and was like, omg

Haven't really kept track of my gas mileage...i'm guessing about 300-350 miles.

300 km!!!! that sucks big time man! mine does at a regular 70-75 mph around 520 miles! if i drive quickly (90-110) it does 400 miles at the most. but 180 miles!!!
top speed was 210km/h (around 130 right?)

I have a 99 C230K and I get on average of 520Km Per tank. Sometimes even more..

The fastest i've done, was when i was racing a BMW 740 at 235Km/h. I dont' know how fast that is in miles.. but it's pretty fast... I was still climbing too, but I stopped booting it since it was raining that night..

Kinda scary.. I'm so impressed with these kompressor engines....
