I drive a 1998 C230 and I must admit that I love the way your ride looks. The Lowenharts look amazing and they are what inspired me to through wheels on my ride. Seeing how your ride is the reason that I’m about to drop a few grand for mods, I was hoping that you offer more details regarding what you did to your car. More specifically, provide some details regarding the lowering of the car. Do you have any more pictures? Is so, please post them!!

For anyone else who’s interested . . . I decided on 18x8’s all around with a 35 offset and 225/40/18’s. It’ll allow me to rotate them as necessary and should make it easier for me in general as I will not have to roll fenders, etc. The only question now is . . . “What’s the best way to lower the car to compensate for the new wheels?” Apparently the answer is ProKit or H&R springs with #1 pads. That seems to be to preferred method. Offer any insight on all of the above, especially if I’m going to have any issues with rubbing.

TJMJR, I'm really flattered that my car inspired your modding bug to get off his ***. For the suspension, the height varies on every individual car unless your car is a 2000 c280 with folding rear seats/leather, etc etc. The first step I took was to get some H&R racing springs in there, ($200), I got them installed but kept my stock pads (#3F, ?R) At this time I did not change my shocks yet, but the drop was quite nice. After a while though, someone pointed out to me that my front was higher than the rear. After closer inspection, I realized this was true. Each day it became more annoying knowing that my front had a 1" gap, and the rear was tucked .25" so I decided to change the front pad to #1. This dropped the car almost an inch from #3-#1. After I got this done, I got an allignment and a few months later I decided to get some Bilstein Sport Shocks ($80 ea.) I installed these myself so if you decide to get a set, hit me up and I'll help you step by step on how to install them. The problem with my set up is that you cannot make complete U turns, nor can you take turns faster than 2mph. If you drive your car hard or drift or take corners hard, I don't think you should try my setup. Even now I rub when I take corners faster than 2mph (I rolled my fenders AT LEAST 3 times on each corner.) But if you run the proper offset/tire size then this shouldn't become a problem, especially with 18x8. I would recommend 19"s though for the "show car" look. Although I enjoy the looks of the drop, it's not very practical for every day driving. People slam on their brakes behind me when I have to make a turn, and I have to be extra careful on the freeway. here are all the pics I currently have available so you can make a better decision.
