Thanks for the compliments. Pocholin: they are 18 inch wheels with 225/40/ZR18 Wanli S1099 tires. My mind is still kind of up in the air right now about the tires since I've never even heard of them. All well, they were cheap. I'm going to get them mounted on the rim tomorrow so I will throw a couple on one side of the car and get some pix of them installed. As I've said before, I need to wear out the tires I have right now before I get these on.

So good news, 18 by 8's do fit. Even with the car lowered. (TP was right) So this means that Rincewind needs to get his monoblocks.

The ride quality is better than I expected, really no difference at all. The wheels are a little on the heavy side at 31 lbs. but the tires are very light. I drove all around today without any problems. It's very hard to make them rub. I think the only way to do it would be to hit a hard bump while turned very hard to one side. They are +38 offset. I think if it were +40 or higher it would hit on the inside and I wouldn't get my full turning radius. When I turn all the way to one side I only have 1/8 of an inch left before it hits the inner fender well. I would say if it were anything less than +35 I would be rubbing up against the fender the whole time because it's really close there as well. You can see it in the pictures. So yeah, 18 by 8 definately works with no problem. Oh, speaking of luck, The wheels went up 100 dollars right after I ordered them so now I'm even happier that I went ahead and got them. Subject 2: The tires seem to be pretty good. I pushed them hard on an on ramp today and they stuck right to the road. They are also relatively quiet at any speed. I'll let you know more as time goes by. It's supposed to rain here Wednesday so I'll let you know of wet traction then. Hope this answers any wheel size questions you all had.

Update: It rained here like crazy today so I decided to go out and have some fun. It was about as much fun as I've ever had with a new set of rubbers not made of latex. huh...... huh? No? All well. They were much better than I ever expected. They just won't break loose, even pulling out at a sharp angle. I can't believe how cheap these tires were. I can only assume they are made by 10 year old kids in a sweat shop. Way to go China! So yeah, if you want a decent tire and don't have much cash, get the Wanli S1099 by all means. I guess the only concern left is treadware. People are going to be really confused when I bring this thread back to life in a couple of years for an update on that.

Thread wear, you can expect probably 24-26k miles if you are not too hard on them and rotate them every 5k miles. Speed rated (Z, W, Y) tires don't last much.
