I dont think you have one.

I have a 98 c230 and I dont have an antenna.

Its normally on the rear car, above the rear window and in the middle.

Ok, I think I have the answer to this one. A lot of cars companies in the early 90's started mounting the antenna into the rear windsheild. It is a black wire that looks like window defroster wires. You may not even be able to see it. They did this to avoid having an external metal antenna. I'm pretty sure it's a "dealer only" special. My Maxima's Bose system had a feature called FM Diversity which made use of both a metal antenna and one like I described above for better FM reception. Does this help?

Mercedes-Benz C240 and Corvette C5 convertible
FM and AM!

I don't think the antenna being mounted in the rear winshield was a dealer special. I would think that many classes of Mercedes-Benz cars started having the antenna in the rear window during the late 1990's. I know for a fact that my father's late 90's S-classes (w140) and my 2000 C-class (w202) have a non external antenna placed in the rear window.

As for interference or bad radio reception... I don't have a clue as I am not a physicist. But in concern to how the car was fine before and now it's bad. Maybe the radio signals in your country are very close in frequency and are high powered. Overlapping radio frequencies maybe the case. I would like to think that nothing is wrong with your car. Maybe you should go to a neighboring country or see if this problem occurs in your friend's or relatives Mercedes-Benz with a rear window radio antenna.

I am sorry I can't be of more help to you... but this is the best I can think of...

By "dealer only" special, I mean that if you want if fixed you have to go to the dealer. I don't think any electronics store or stereo shop in the U.S. has the capability to mess with that.

As far as I know it's on one side of the glass, either interior or exterior.

Hi, guys. I'm new to the Forum today.

My dealer told me that the radio antenna on my '99 is in the rear window and that the cell phone antenna in within the rear bumper housing. (Guess that didn't work out so well since they moved the cell phone antenna to the rear center of the roof in 2000.)

The radio antenna seems fine for FM but it's too directional on AM.
