Wanli Tires, Not Recommended

So I just tried to get my tires balanced for the 4th time this month and found out some bad news. 3 of the 4 tires are out of round. I bought these tires because they were dirt cheap. I just thought I'd warn you all in case someone else was looking at getting them.

Thanks for posting. Ill make sure to not recommend them to anyone. So far I think for the money, Hankook and Kumho tires are the best.

hmm...I haven't had personal experience with Hankook but I've seen some of their tires after a few thousand miles and they don't look too great to me. I'm not sure if it was because the owner underinflated them, but they were beginning to literally fall apart

Well, ive seen some and they were fine. Ive talked to a few people who had it and they said they were ok. Then again my friends had the top of the line ones which are still cheap. Hehe. I just got some for the SC300, lets see how they hold up. If they suck, ill be sure to post it.

That's funny because one of mine had a bubble after 6 days. Got a new one for free from Tirerack.

I had wanli's on my c230 coupe. I put 8000 miles on them so far. I havent had any shaking, but the tread does have a tendency to say chunk apart. They grip OK and arent too noisy, and i have alot of tread left. I think you can just get lucky from time to time, bc i had continental sport contacts and 3 bubbled up and i wore them in 5000 miles.

im on my second set of Kumho tires (didnt want the second set, but i sold my AMG wheels and tires for Carlssons while i was away at school (using my SUV in the snow) and my dad bought more Kumhos without talking to me. While i havent had any really big problems with them (although they do tend to cup, and yes my car was aligned and i was running 38 and 36 psi), i just dont like them. uneven wear, and loud after about 5000 miles. i wouldnt have spent the money on them, but the treadwear rating was supposed to be 280, they definitely dont last that long. my dad put Hankook tires on his SEC, and i would recommend those as opposed to Kumho (so far, havent really seen how well they wear yet, but they seem to be doing well). i think my next set of tires will be Yokohama.

For all these people to say they haven't had problems with Wanli tires I think they may have just told me that as an excuse. If they were out of round, wouldn't I feel vibrations at all speeds? I just feels it between 75 and 85 MPH. What Wanli tires were you all using. I have the S1099. It looks identical the the Yokohama AVS tires.

yes i was using the wanli yoko AVS knockoff in a 215/45/17. It actually did have a slight shimmer between 62-28 adn the steering wheel shook. I didnt even attempt to rebalence anything tho as my car is in the shop, hopefully finally getting rid of it.

I have real yokohoma avs in 19 inch on my clk. They are of much better quality, the rubber compound is where the difference is. THe wanli chunked out in some spots, the yokohoma has nice even tread and doesnt squeal nearly as much. I am satisfied with the wanlis for the 300 bucks i spend mounted/balenced. They work good and since i rip on the car alot, i didnt feel like replaceing very expensive tire!

Doug are u sure u dont have a sligthly bent rim? Is it an OEM mercedes rim? My c230 came with 17 inch rim, and i started to have the shake and that was after i hit a big pothole. I found the lip was banged out a little bit on the back, nothing severe tho. I hammered it back with a rubber mallet.

So here's the latest. 3 of the 4 tires were in fact out of round. I had them shaved back to round and high speed balanced while on the car. I feel like I'm riding on 15's again. It's the smoothest ride it's ever been. I called the place where I got the tires and he said if I ordered another set of tires right then he would only charge me for 3 and give me free shipping. I got Nankang SR-1 or something like that. It was either that or Wanli or Federal. This guy is all about Chinese tires. Has anyone had the Nankangs before? How were they?

I had a set of Goodyear Regatta's go out of round on me. I swear, those tires were the biggest pieces of crap. Then I had a set of Cooper Discoverer H/T's go out of round on me on my YUKON as well as a set of Continental's. The best tire I've found is Yokohama. I have those on the benz right now and they kick ***!

stop buying these weird *** tire brands. just buy normal, trusted brands and you you'll spend a few extra bucks, but it'll save you a lot of time/effort correcting/complaining what is wrong with the cheapo tires you bought. Not to sound like an *** but there's a reason why those tires are so cheap. "you get what you pay for"

I had planned on getting Michelin like I used to have but this is the best that the guy would do. He gave me all four tires for less than 300 dollars and free shipping. I would be an idiot to turn that down no matter how crappy the tires are.

My personal opinion is that Michelin's are over priced. Don't get me wrong, they're good tires, but they cost too much for what you get. The guys at Discount wanted, I believe, $600 for Michelin touring tires that were like S rated. I got Yokohama's for $482 and they're H rated. My dad just paid over $800 for the tires on the YUKON that are Michelin LTX all seasons when he could've gotten a set of BF Goodrich A/T's for like upper $600 to low $700 range.

michelins are expensive but you get what you pay for (for the most part). the pilot series tires are a perfect example; although they are relatively expensive, they are great tires.

ive had good experiences with dunlops and yokohamas also. yokohamas are cheap but unlike wanli they get a lot of bang for the buck

im confused, ive heard great things about the Kuhmo Ecsta MXs (or however you spell it) from friends. you guys think they are bad?

I had a set of Kumho 712 and I thought they were great. Traction, even wear, quiet, what more could you ask for in a low price tire?
