My right side is cracked too. Unfortunately you must replace the entire assembly for 1994 C classes.

best thing to do is to get it replaced when you got the money on the side. it shouldnt crack more unless its impacted by something that causes significant vibrations upon impact (i.e. another impact by a pebble will make it worse). if its not that bad right now, save up but get it replaced later.

to prevent it from spreading anymore, drill a SMALL hole at the tip of the tail. I imagine that driving at high speeds would cause the crack to spread

Just for assurance, my crack hasn't spread at all in a year and a half. I have silicon over it so it doesn't leak and blow my bulb.

Every once in a while I see a set of glass European lights for sale for $260. As soon as I see them again I'll get them.

Maybe you could find one on ebay. I bought a tailight off of Ebay for $25 including shipping.

reading all the other posts about your c220....I wouldn't put any money on it, unless it gets too bad to pass safety inspection.....try using one of the lenz repair kits...eg from pep boys.....it should hold the spread of the crack......good luck

speaking about repairs...any way to temporarily seal up a leak? my main seal is leaking, like i can see drip after the car has been driven. once the oil is back down to the pan, it's not as bad, but wondering if i can just seal it up from where it's leaking out...

Yes, set it on the tracks, let insurance buy you a new car.
