Custom Air Intake
im thinking about making a custom intake for my c280. the setup is simple: K&N cone filter and some piping that will sit in the stock airbox (the piping will take the place of the airbox cover and connect to the MAS). if anyone knows the Comptech Icebox CAI, this is sort of like that. any comments, suggestions, or cautions are more than welcome!

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
do it... i did custom cold air intake on my c36... and its great. gives a little more push high end, and sounds a little more aggressive... definitely do it.. i havent had any drawbacks.

doug: do you know any other brands for air filters that do not cause as many problems as K&Ns do? or should i just go to pepboys/autozone and just pick up a no-name universal cone filter?

I have 100k miles on my car and have had k&N's in it for 60k of those miles. The only time the MAS ever went bad was at 25k miles with the stock filters...

yeh before mbworld went down, doug (and a lot of other people)did reply and this thread was basically done. it was 5 pages or something like that. i dont know where all these people went.
general consensus: our MAFs dont like oiled filters including K&Ns. but, some have had no problems with them. thus, using an oiled filter is a 50/50 deal.
im now using a cone filter for my custom intake but once in a while the car runs funny so im considering going back to the stock setup.
