low mileage head job
I have the C Class 230 (Old shape); my car is in excellent condition with approximately only 55,000 miles. The other day the engine lost power, the agents have just told me one of the Cylinder Head Valves have to be replaced. And now I have a ridiculous repair bill
Surely an engine with such a low mileage should not need a new valve.
Is the 4-cyl 230 engine susceptible to valve damage.
Is there any way that I can hold MB responsible, unfortunately the car is out of warranty but it is low mileage car?
Your advice is appreciated.

I have been a member of this forum for nearly 2 years and have never heard of this happening on the 2.3 liter engine. Call Mercedes and talk to the highest paid guy you can get on the phone and tell him or her ( <--yeah right) your problem. They are known to suck up some of the bill to avoid bad customer feedback.

i haven't heard of any problems like that. The 4-cyl is a pretty durable engine that will go on for a LONG time if taken care well. Only common prob I can think of is the headgasket, thats' it.
maybe get a second opinion?

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
to be honest with you, i think you are simply out of luck and have to bite the bullet and pay for it. its a 7 year old car... regardless of miles. if you were within a year even of the end of factory warranty it might be different, but a 97?... its gonna be a uphill battle.

Get a second opinion first.
This is supposed to be one of the most durable ones made lately.
I've NEVER heard this happening with this model. Head gasket (like another poster said) yes, but what you are saying...no.
Nothing is impossible, but I find this very very unlikely.
Get a second opinion. Just tow it in and ask them what is wrong. Don' t tell them about the other shop.
If this is a dealer, get it the hell out of there!
They are almost always crooks!
