Total loss is usually determined by cost to fix versus value of the car. Edmunds shows your car value to be around 11k to 12k roughly. Anything can be fixed, it's just a matter of cost.

Sorry about you car.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
damn, sorry to see that man. at least youre okay. looks like the structural integrity might be compromised, in that case you probably dont want to drive it anymore. you dont have much choice though, your insurance company makes the decision. good luck, let us know what happens.

feel the pain

I feel the pain man, I lost mine in april... I totaled mine, and it didnt even have frame damage, which yours looks to have form that picture. If the accident wasn't your fault, I suggest you dont bother getting it fixed, and use the money to buy another W202, unless the damage isnt too costly.

easy fix really. i work for a used car dealer and buy, fix and sell salvage cars. here's an estimated for just body ork (unknown mechanical)

roof cut from junkyard (fron't center of A to C piller = 500 aprox (same price at dealer for just the top i think ( check and body shops get 20% discount at dealers)) (basically thats all u need.)
door shells (although fixable) = 500 each (dealer part) i tihnk door skins are 250 each (outer skin easy weld) ( aprox prices. havne't checked dealer prices yet.)
fender = 25-30 bucks (aftermarket oem spec) (certifit or someone)

windshield = 150 or so new at a auto windsheild shop. if rear needed, around same price at junk yard. a lil exp ne cuz of the defroster.

mirrors, shouldn't be too much at aftermarket or junkyard.

Check www.car-part.com for a junk yard in your neighbour hood. negotiate with them. they will cone down quite a bit....

body work shoulnd't be no more than 1500 labour. so u're looking at around 3 grand in repairs. with out door replacement ( not necessary at all) is 1000 less.

i donno how the rest of the car is cuz of limited pictures but u're looking at 2500-3000 worth of repairs cheapest at a small bodyshop. there are good small body shops, and bad ones. just look at some of thier work and FEEL it.

do they use primer, good paint (not enamal), their bondo work , wet sanding, use of flex agents on flexible parts (or the motha would peal if not used),

i've had my front end fixed at a body shop. coulda cost 2000 by the insurance company. cost me 350 + avantegrade wannabe grill (80) at a small body shop we frequtently used. no probs for a year.

just make sure u look closely at thier work. and if the body shop guy working on the car and owners are nice, they will most likely work with u if u push em. extra few bonus bucks / tips for a better job helps BIG TIME!!!!

that job shouldn't take more than 2 weeks to complete.
hope this helps.

they are going to look at it on monday...to total it out they said the damage would have to be 75% or more...its worth about 11-12k so the damage would have to be around 8-9k, it doesnt look that bad to me but IDK....I hope they can fix it

I dont want to try and find another car, its going to be hard enough to find insurance after this (i know there going to drop me) esp. in NJ, I already pay 2400 a yr for this car

update: heard from my ins., so far its not totaled ($7000+ in damages) but he still has to do a few things and find out the value of my car

$7K Thats not bad, I had some front end damage, up to the radiator however, hood, fenders, front crossmember, & front bumper/lights/grill/etc.. came out to $9k I would have thought roll damage would be a hellva lot more...

Today it became official...my car was deemed a total loss

they valued my 1998 c230 (non-kompressor) w/85k+ miles on it at... $1.23 short of $13k, which i think is not bad at all

I wasnt the first owner (so i still owe some money on it), I'll come out this w/ something so i might buy another 202. I saw a 1999 c230 for $10k but it had 120k+ miles on it would it be worth it to even look at???

consider yourself lucky. you dont want to drive it after such major damage.

and i dont think a 202 with 120k is worth that much, or even worth looking at.
