Thinking about lowering

I have a 1998 c230 with 18's on it. Looks high. What are the best springs for good ride quality (taking price into consideration)? Also, how much could I lower it w/o comprimising too much of the ride? Do I need a camber kit? thanks.

I would recommend H&R. I personally would go with the cup kit, because you can adjust the damper.

a car that can't do the throttle reset.
h&r's for most forgiving ride. camber kit not needed. cup kit more pricey, forget it. all spring sets are a fixed drop... but you can control with shims. you may need to roll your fenders... more than likely. the drop is going to make it more of a stiff ride.

Hes right, the cup kit is more expensive, if you just want to lower the car. I think Kest tuning sells the cup kit for about six hundred and some change, compared to about two hundred for a set of springs. This is why I justify the cup kit, I believe that if you buy springs, you're better off buying shocks too. When you total the two together, you get the price of the cup kit, plus you get the advantage of being able to adjust the damping force. So if you just want to lower it, do springs. If you're going to replace the shocks along with the springs I recommend the cup kit. It's up to you.

it sounds like he is looking for the most cost effective method... so he only needs springs for a drop, cupkit and shocks are completely unnecessary.

a cup kit...

Well, a cup kit is actually a hydraulic-powered cup holder that pops out of your wheel well at the press of a button. They're pretty useful in most situations... No really, a cup kit is a way to lower your car when you want it to be (summer, nice weather, etc.) and still be able to adjust it back to stock ride height. Very simply, adjustable lowering springs.
